Meet Alison Columbus and Janice Voth

We were lucky to catch up with Alison Columbus and Janice Voth recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alison Columbus and Janice Voth , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
The PredatorBWear harness was developed by two Veterinary professionals in North Vancouver BC, Canada. We have 29 years experience between us and in that time there have been countless dogs who have been under our care with wounds from other dogs, coyotes, birds of prey and even raccoons! We knew we had to find a product that helped these little dogs.

Predator attacks are on the rise as our cities expand into neighbouring forests and wooded areas. It’s time we protect our favourite canines and give their owners piece of mind!

Our passion for excellence has driven us from the beginning, and continues to drive us into the future. The team at PredatorBWear knows that every product counts, and strives to make the entire shopping experience as rewarding and fun as possible.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Our company started 3.5 years ago with developing and selling our spiked predator protection harnesses for dogs. We wanted to focus on the safety and well-being of small dogs, timid dogs, senior dogs, blind dogs and dogs recovering from injury. We have since expanded and are now offering LED (light up) harnesses and leashes. These promote safety during walks when it is dark out especially in the fall and winter when dogs are being walked after dusk. We have plans for more safety based products in the future and are looking forward to bringing those to market.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
We had a knowledge base for our initial product (our spiked harness) since we work in the Veterinary industry. We were fortunate enough to be able to gain input from various Veterinarians to develop the best possible product.

One thing we have learned along the way is to be open to feedback and take all ideas into consideration. Sometimes the best input comes from places you wouldn’t think to look!

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
When we first started our main obstacle was knowing how to spread the word about our product. We started with 5 followers on Instagram and they were our families! We were diligent in posting on social media, hanging flyers in communities and talking to anyone who would listen! It developed from that to now having people contact us from all over the world ordering our products and also having them available in stores in Canada and the USA.
