Meet Morgan Layne

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Morgan Layne. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Morgan below.

Morgan, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
When I was younger, my dad and I would sit and watch all the original Star Wars movies. I always wished to be whisked away to places like Endor, or to even be as amazing as a Jedi. With a lot of art influences throughout my adolescence, having the imagination I did, I grew into an adult who still dreams of playing those characters, experiencing those lands. So, I put my skills to the test and have found a purpose for it all in fashion and location all while staying comfortable, sometimes.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Recently, I have switched my focus from all Disney fashion and bounding, but more Star Wars driven. Before the pandemic, I was starting to come up with “solar punk” fashion with a Star Wars flair. Capes, masks, hoods; all of it. I’m back to a spot post pandemic where I feel creative and inspired so I’ve started investing in my unfinished projects and showcasing a style that commands attention while being subtle at the same time. Not too long ago, I started acquiring items to create a cosplay I’ve been jazzed about for quite some time but I’m not going to spoil the fun just like that! I will however give you hints in these photos!!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
It never pays to get things done fast over getting it done right. I don’t know how many time I’ve told myself to “stop sewing so fast, there’s no time limit” over these past few months. Patience isn’t the easiest for my very busy mind, but it’s always brought in my best work. Looking back now, I’d like to tell myself that I am the one who needs to be pleased and happy with what I’ve made, not anyone else. It’s not selfish to love what you’ve made and to brag about the process, but make sure not to cross that line into cockiness because that’s what gets you in trouble! OH, and one last bit of advice, out of this world kettle corn and cold brew is always a yes!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
ALWAYS! Again, lately it’s been Star Wars centred, as I’ve found my niche. Working with other influencers and/or small shoppes would be incredible and I welcome whoever wants to collaborate!
