Meet Taylor Covington

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Taylor Covington a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Taylor with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I like to say I get my work ethic from my parents. Seeing them work all day and then come home just to continue to help neighbors or work on another project for someone really set an example for me growing up. I learned that things don’t just come easy to you and you need to work hard and push through to get to where you want to be. They are the most generous and hard working people I have ever met.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hi I’m Taylor Covington a Licensed Esthetician and lash artist! I’ve been lashing for about 3 years now and absolutely love it. There’s always so much growth and learning to do that it never gets boring to me. My favorite part of my job is helping boost a client’s confidence and make them feel more like themselves. At the end of the day I want them to know I’m someone they can trust, who will listen and keep all their crazy secrets!! I am so grateful to have clients that have turned into friends and the opportunity to do what I love as my career.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think being consistent, constantly educating yourself on knew things and being 100% who you are has really helped me in this industry. You have to stop comparing yourself to other people and their work because you’ll never be them. Be proud of yourself whatever point you’re at and don’t worry about what everyone else is doing.

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?
I think it’s good to go all in on your strengths, but i find it important to learn new things as well. When you get so good at one thing and continue to do it you’ll get bored, and have only one thing to offer. Learning new skills and improving on them lets you have multiple options to bring to the table. For me, learning something new or improving on my skills feels so good and rewarding.
