We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Stephanie Haden. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Stephanie below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Stephanie with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic definitely comes from both my father and mother. Despite financial circumstances, my father always made sure food was on the table, and we encountered the best education possible. There were times, he had to work two to three jobs at the same time just to make it. My mother on the other hand, began her college career when we were in middle school. Being a full time mother and college student was very hard for her. Needless to say, her degree paid off. Both my parents were prime examples of hard work and no quit. I appreciate them both. I am most definitely a no quit kind of gal.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I consider myself an art educator. As a young girl, I loved art. I recall in Kindergarten drawing a picture of me. I noticed all my other classmates drew stick people. However, my drawing was very detailed. Little did I know, I did not do anything wrong, I was just talented. My parents always encouraged my artistic skills and never doubt my career choice in art. Through my art career I have worked in several public schools, after school programs, and also run my own mobile paint party business part time in the Houston area. With hard work and dedication, one truly can do what they love when you set your mind to it.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities and skills I think are impactful is having integrity, having resilience, and being creative! Integrity is important and should be uphold in any business. Resilience is a must, because lets face it, running a business is not easy! And being creative is important as an art educator in order to thrive in any work environment. Anyone who wants to be an art educator or run a business should definitely be resilient. You will have people that encourage and discourage you. One must be able to take both successes and failures, learn from them, and build upon that.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was to encourage my art skills. They never doubt me. They new with the proper guidance, I could be successful no matter what.
