Meet Rieley Chambers

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rieley Chambers a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Rieley, so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
I have a few self-care go-to’s in my routine. First, I have time to relax to be fully efficient during the work day. Although owning a business is a 24/7 career, I like to turn off the computer by 8 pm at the latest and do my skincare routine. This four-step routine washes off the day and prepares me for my devotional and whatever show I am binging at the moment. Other than my skincare routine. I’d say prayer and meditation keep me sane. I have to have time to self-reflect on the day/week so I can better myself moving forward. The biggest self-care I have on my list is working out. Whether it’s a walk at noon with my dog or going to the local gym, I have to have time to get physical!

All of these keep me grounded throughout the working day and at my best.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am the owner of Social Haus, a social media and branding agency in Nashville, TN. My daily schedule involves posting and interacting on social media, keeping up with market trends, developing websites and enhancing SEO, and a daily walk at lunch. Some days I am driving to clients for photoshoots or meetings. I find that the most enjoyable part of Social Haus is working with clients to better their social media.

Social media is a fast-paced industry where small adjustments can lead to sizeable business increases. Social media is constantly changing and you must keep up with the latest trends to ensure the greatest exposure. It’s exciting being in the world of social media. Even just changing a client’s aesthetic is so interesting to see.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The first skill would be adaptability. You must remain flexible and open to new experiences and tasks. Without adaptability, how are you going to keep up with trends? Most industries are in the middle of adapting right now because of new introductions like Chat GPT and other AI software.

You must remain grounded throughout your work process. Although work can seem like it’s life – it’s not. You must be able to turn off the work day and have hobbies on the side that distract you from what you’re doing at work. I think this habit has helped me not burn out so easily in a fast-paced industry and maintain good relationships with clients.

My relationship with God has kept me sane during the whole “starting a business” phase. There is so many moving parts, enough to drive you crazy, and my relationship with The Lord has kept my mind on straight.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
At the moment, figuring out how to grow the business has been a particular challenge. It’s difficult trusting the people you bring into the business and figuring out tasks, finances, etc. Through mentorship and many hours of bookkeeping, I’ve been able to slowly grow my business – although I am still working on this challenge. Thankfully, there are many other small businesses going through this that open up about this challenge and how they got through this business phase.
