Meet Casey Burke

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Casey Burke. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Casey, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I believe my resilience comes from the people I’m surrounded by. Any line of work in the entertainment industry is nerve-wracking and unsteady. You hear a whole lot of no’s before you hear a yes, and you will inevitably have moments of self doubt. I think it is so important to surround yourself with people who will remind you how loved and worthy you are in those tough moments. I have been so fortunate to have parents, family, and friends who have always and will always believe in me, even when I don’t believe in myself.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am an actor, singer and creator. Unfortunately, that means right now I am unable to promote any new or existing work due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes that are ongoing. Therefore, I would encourage everyone to join a picket line! You don’t have to be SAG or WGA to come and show support. Obviously we are fighting for something important- our livelihoods- but it is really fun and a great way to see firsthand how much our community supports each other.
Also, educate yourself! Plenty of sources have posted exactly what SAG is asking for and what the studios have responded with so far. Be in the know, because the rich Hollywood idea that people have come to know is simply not the reality for most working actors.
As for me, you can find me on Instagram @casey_burke_official, where I will hopefully be able to start promoting my work again soon, and you can see more about the content I create, the brands I work with, and the organizations that mean the most to me.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three most important things I have learned, developed, and brought with my through my career would be honesty, confidence, and fun. It is so important to be honest with yourself in this line of work. Both literally, in figuring out if this is what you truly desire (because you love the art, not just want to be famous) and in your storytelling. One of the aspects that makes an actor great is their believability. People love our art so much because they see themselves and the people they know in us. We are human, first.
Confidence is something that I am definitely still, and probably always will be, working on. Even if it’s exaggerated or fake in the moment, people are much more magnetic when they look like they believe in and know themselves truly, and others will want to work with someone who sells everything they do over someone who seems like they are unsure.
And lastly, have. fun. Storytelling is so beautiful, no matter what form it comes in. Especially as actors, we tend to get in our heads and overthink, and while it’s important to show up and do the work, it’s just as important to remember how much you love it and why you’re there in the first place.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am always looking for people to create art with!

There is truly nothing better than getting together with friends (new or old) and creating something that makes people laugh, or cry, or see things from new perspectives. Some of my favorite projects I’ve ever worked on have been short films with old friends and new musical readings with a team of incredible artists I’ve never met.
It is so rewarding to see something from your imagination come to life, and I am always so thrilled and honored to get to be a small part of that, in any way, shape, or form.

I also have such a desire to expand my knowledge about all parts of the creative process- writing, cinematography, editing. I have wanted for so long to get together with passionate people and make something wonderful- so, if you’re reading this, hmu!
