Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tiffanie Daniel. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Tiffanie, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
Some would say that my optimism is a natural trait of being born a Sagittarius. Still, I know it’s a whole lot deeper. Growing up as the oldest child in a single-parent home, I saw my mother make extraordinary things happen. We essentially grew up together, as I was born when she was only 20.
I observed studiously as she demonstrated the benefits of hard work paying off. I watched as we went from assisted living to hiring help for cooking and cleaning. I studied as she went from secretary to property manager in the same office. I learned as she took those skills to Lower Manhattan and became a luxury highrise manager.
In all this time, I saw her create a model for me that anything is possible if you’re willing to do what needs to be done. So, when it came time to forge my own path, I did just that. I didn’t shy away when I was 19 years old and sent to live and work in South Korea, nor did I wince when I was one of 11 females in a unit of over 600 males.
I didn’t cry as a single parent of two when I deployed after my second child had barely turned one. Or when I deployed again 9 months after returning from the first deployment. Instead, I decided that these things would get me to where I wanted to be in life, even if I didn’t know where that was yet.
Looking forward to bigger, brighter, and better is something that has been ingrained in me since birth. Knowing that you can come from nothing and turn around and have plenty with the necessary work instilled in me a drive to be the best at whatever task came my way. So, although optimism is a natural trait in a Sagittarius, I know I get mine from watching a real-life magician as I grew up.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My name is Tiffanie Daniel, and I am pretty much a master at time management. I’ve spent the last 18 years in the military (almost time to retire) and am a single parent to three children. Between the military, my children, and our dog, I’ve still found time to better myself. Regardless of the assignments, I’ve always ensured that I operated in a manner that would benefit myself or my children in the long run.
I own Rashel Made It, a customization business specializing in making custom gifts and accessories for that special someone. We also create custom items for other companies and teams. We will be at several local holiday markets in the Central Texas Area and teaching at the Crafter Convention in Killeen, Texas.
I am also the founder of Tiffanie Daniel Coaching, where I’ve coupled my collegiate education and military experience to help solopreneurs and small business owners organize and optimize their systems. This gives them a solid foundation for hiring their first employees or ensuring their current structures stand the test of time.
I assist with SOP creation and review, company internal systems for document storage, and task management, and provide 1-on-1 coaching. Helping these entrepreneurs unload the processes they are holding locked in their minds and placing them in an accessible location for their staff allows them to focus on being the Boss of their business.
I absolutely love what I do, but I understand that everyone is not in a place to hire a 1on1 coach. So, I’m working on custom organization tools, templates, and boards to help solopreneurs achieve their organizational needs without the budget for 1-on-1 coaching.
I also have two self-study courses coming before the end of the year on overcoming procrastination and effective goal setting. This is an exciting time in business for me. So much of my knowledge is being brought to the forefront of my operations.
You may be thinking that there is a lot on my plate. Still, with my time management practices, I get the work done, am home for dinner with my children, make it to all their school activities, and still have time for self-care. If you’d like to learn more about my practices, please follow me on Facebook or IG, as I’ll start telling my story soon.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The Three most impactful things to my journey were my love of continuous education, persistence, and optimism. Continued education has led me to achieve educational feats uncommon to my parent’s generation. Where I grew up, college may have been started, but it wasn’t always completed. Someone was far more likely to have been harassed by the police than to have taken a college class in my hometown.
Although my first attempt at college wasn’t a winning journey, my persistence and optimism that I would find the right path ensured that it was never so far off the table that I would never attempt again. Persistence has also led me to a place where I openly seek knowledge in subjects I don’t excel in.
I round out my strong suits with at least a basic knowledge of tasks that may be needed in my field, and my optimism ensures that I don’t quit before the whistle. These opportunities to learn new things open doors into different areas of life I may never have traveled.
This willingness to freely go where the path takes me has led to the opportunity to work with some fantastic clients in the local area and partner with other businesses to bring education opportunities to other entrepreneurs. The best part is that I get to model for my children what chasing your dreams looks like in real life.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I feel overwhelmed, I have a routine to calm myself and clear my head. It’s not always possible to do the whole exercise every time, but I can always do at least a small part of it.
I start with a brain dump to get everything out of my head. Using a sheet of paper, the notes app on my phone, or my favorite productivity app, I’ll write down everything in my head: thoughts, tasks, feelings, every single thing.
Once I have everything out, I categorize everything: thoughts, feelings, tasks, projects, whatever categories I need. If it’s a task, I’ll put them in the calendar and cross them off the list. Once they are on the calendar, I know they’ll get done because I’ve created that discipline within myself.
Projects will get broken down into tasks at that moment, or I will schedule a time on the calendar to break it down, and they will go into my project management software.
Now, I’m left with thoughts and feelings. This is where the magic happens, quite honestly. I will take the most prevalent thoughts and trace them to the feelings that overwhelm me. Then I question it.
What makes me feel this way, or what is causing me to feel this way. How am I thinking about this thing that is making me feel overwhelmed and then from there, I focus on those thoughts. Because thoughts cause feelings, feelings drive action, and action drives results.
I also choose to think of being “overwhelmed” optimistically as the result of all the things I’ve been working toward coming to me at one time. Looking at it this way, I start feeling less overwhelmed and more motivated to organize and optimize the opportunities in front of me. The magic is in how you think about the feeling and its effects on you.
