Meet Justin Muzack

We recently connected with Justin Muzack and have shared our conversation below.

Justin , first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
The way I have overcome imposter syndrome is believing God sent me there to fulfill his purpose. I learned after working in various industries and work environments that I have the gift of personability and building community among strangers. I learned to lean into that and make the most out of every situation. I also noticed everywhere I went, I became an asset. I always remember that even if I feel awkward or out of place at the moment, I will eventually shine my light in the room I’m in.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a radio DJ and producer who started his journey in music and media in 2011 when I was the head of booking artists for an internet radio show, “Syndicate Radio.” In 2016 that led to me being the on camera host for Street Motivation Magazine’s “SMTV” where I was blessed to interview the likes of Snoop Dogg, The Game, Amber Rose, Naughty By Nature, and more. That soon led to me hosting my own radio show “The GR8-L8 Show” on the legacy Hip-Hop group, Pharcyde’s platform, “Pharcyde TV.” I soon started DJing to help enhance my show and I began getting booked to perform all over Los Angeles. In 2020, I had the opportunity to take my radio show to 101.5 FM KQBH and I have been on the station ever since. As a radio producer, I was approached by Tastemaker’s Media in 2022 to associate produce and engineer the legendary comedian, Earthquake’s “Quake’s House” on Kevin Hart’s “LOL Radio” on Sirius XM and I’m currently still working with them.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
One, I would say build genuine relationships in the industry. Don’t base your friendship or relationship with someone if it’s merely advance your career. Take interest in their lives, hang out with them, and talk about non-industry related things. Two, learn as many skills and trades as you can. The key is to be an asset in the room. The more you know, the harder it is for them to get rid of you. Lastly, show how much you care about what you do. People love to see someone passionate about the work they do.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
Put God first and everything will follow. I will also say ,that character and hard work goes a long way. I wouldn’t be who I am today without my parents. I love them dearly!
