We were lucky to catch up with Marquieta Luckey recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Marquieta, so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?
My obligation is to serve my GOD and not focus on the haters and naysayers. My purpose keeps me focused on serving my community and fulfilling my calling.. That doesn’t give me time to focus on their opinions or criticisms if it’s not in alignment with my purpose.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Prior to the pandemic I was looking for a business opportunity I happened to be introduced to Sea Moss. Sea Moss is an algae that grows in normally warm water climates that can be found in the Caribbean, parts of Asia and off the coast of Ireland. At the time I didn’t realize that during the pandemic this product would be in demand. Once the pandemic started my business begin to take off.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Determination, Confidence and Consistency would be the three attributes that helped me along my journey. Without these three qualities I don’t know where my business would have been. Determination helped me to get the product. Confidence helped me to believe and trust in myself that I would be successful in the endeavor. Consistency helped me to show up each and every day promoting my brand on social media.. The advice that I would give folks that are early in their journey would be to be determined, confident and consistency. These are the attributes that create stain power.

The book that played an important role in my development was Think and Grow Rich. The most valuable or impactful nugget would be the power of thought. If you want to be successful you first have to change your mindset and visualize where you want to be in life. Having that burning desire of being a business owner is what I always wanted for myself and my family. Visualization is key to success. You have to be able to see yourself doing the things you want to do.
