Meet Kevin R Davis

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kevin R Davis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Kevin R, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
I’ve always had a giving spirit, but at times it put me in a bad place, because I was not hanging with the right people, and people were using me and taking advantage of me. I now am careful about who I surround myself with, and I do for people, but do not put myself in a place, that leaves me vulnerable.
I love to give, and support others. I am a huge believer in Karma. I have had so many blessings come my way, when I make it a.point, to do for others.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I have been a romance book cover model, for over 4 years now. I was first asked to do a book cover shoot, when I was almost one year clean from meth addiction.
I had just turned 50, and never imagined that I would ever be asked to do something like that.
I almost backed out, because of insecurities, but I’m so glad I didn’t.
It put me on a completely new path, and it has opened up so many doors for me.
I have now sold over 165 book covers, and now have a huge platform on social media, that I can share my story of recovery, and positivity.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Because I had recently hit rock bottom, I had a new perspective, that I had never had before. I felt like I had nothing to lose, and everything to gain, so I just went after things that I wanted, in stead of being afraid of rejection.
I was also so grateful and thankful for what I had, and that kind of positive attitude, will really change your perspective about things, and I believe it brings more positive things into your life.
The other thing is when I stepped out of my comfort zone, to do that first shoot, it was so empowering. When things went well from the shoot, I realized just how important stepping out of your comfort zone is. If I hadn’t, none of what I have today would have happened.
I’ve been making myself step out of my comfort zone, as much as possible, ever since, and I’ve never had so many amazing things happen for me.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
I’m very comfortable in front of the camera, but I was not comfortable if someone was videotaping me, or if I had to talk in front of people. I knew this was going to hold me back and I was starting to get opportunities, that I would need to do those things.
In order to step out of my comfort zone, I enrolled in an online zoom acting class, and then I also took opportunities to do video podcasts, that I had been asked to do.
It went from being something uncomfortable, that I would have found every excuse to not do, in the past, to something that I actually enjoy, and look forward to doing.
It has helped my overall confidence, and I believe that when we do overcome something like that, it just makes us grow, and opens up doors, that we never knew were there.
