We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tayo Fetti a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tayo , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I discovered my purpose by following my heart and pursuing what I truly love, which is music producing. It all began when I started experimenting with beats and melodies, and I realized that creating music brought me a deep sense of fulfillment and joy. Over time, I honed my skills, and as I delved deeper into the world of music production, I began to see how it wasn’t just a hobby but something that resonated with my core identity.
Finding my purpose in music production allowed me to express myself in ways I couldn’t have imagined before. It gave me a sense of direction and a clear path to follow. Through this creative process, I discovered that my purpose isn’t just about making music; it’s about connecting with others, evoking emotions, and leaving a lasting impact through the power of music. So, my journey to finding my purpose was a harmonious blend of passion, self-discovery, and the realization that music production is not just what I do; it’s who I am.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Being a music producer has really been a great life road and experience for me. Every day I get to express my self musically and come up with new sounds and ideas along side other music producers and artists that i really enjoy working with. I am currently working on a bunch of new music to be released 2023/2024. One of the albums I am currently working on is a collaboration album with rising Los Angeles rapper Holland Izz. I have been locked in with him for about 2 years now and we have a great chemistry that is breaking the sound in to new territory sonically. I’m very excited for when we announce the official release date!
While finishing up this album I also am currently working with a lot of new artists like Champcash, LA skyywalker, Westside Webb, Mac P, big sad 1900 and many more.
It’s great to be busy with all the singles and projects I have been working on and can’t wait to further my career and expand into new genres and sounds as well.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think the 3 qualities or skills that were the most impactful in my journey were focus, creativity, and attitude.
You always need to be focused in this industry because there can be many distractions around but if you stay focused on what your goals are you can achieve anything
If you’re not being creative then obviously you’re not gonna put out your best work. So it is best for me to always stay thinking of new sounds and ways that songs can go rather than just sticking to one sound.
Attitude is very important! It’s hard to get anything done if you don’t have a good outlook on the process of creating and working on new material. There are many times when I felt unmotivated but I don’t let that get me put off track. Always have a positive attitude and everything will be alright
If I was to give any advice to beginners who are early in their journey I would say, just stay down for your crown. It’s a very long process most of the time and the journey that you take is the time when you learn the most about yourself and your craft. Practice every day and put in those hours! Once you lay a foundation brick by brick day after day, week after week, eventually you will look up and have a whole house built! Or better yet, a mansion !
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
I think my biggest area of growth has been my self accountability. I have really grown to realize that if I want something done I really have to do it myself. And in todays world you have to put on multiple hats to make sure you are relevant and doing enough in the music industry. You got to constantly be making music while at the same time be an editor of your own videos, do your own marketing, set up meetings, book studios, create content, etc. it’s a lot of days where I have to hold myself accountable and really push myself to get everything done
