Meet Frank Krueger

We were lucky to catch up with Frank Krueger recently and have shared our conversation below.

Frank, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Recently I have found that I can get caught up in worrying about results and comparing myself to others. As natural as this may be, I don’t find it very inspiring or useful. It can get overwhelming. However when I stop to ask myself: “Why am I doing what I’m doing?” “Why do I love the work?” “Why does it matter to me?” I find more inspiration. I remember what is important to me. I find more clarity of purpose. I think each person’s “why” is unique. It’s very personal. So when I feel a little lost on what I have to do, or how I have to do it, or how far I need to go, I try to remind myself why I am doing it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am an actor, writer and acting teacher based in Los Angeles. In 2018, I co-founded The Annex Acting Studio with my partner, Jessica Heath. At The Annex we focus on creating a community of actors and artists. We really try to focus on the craft of acting from the actor’s point of view. Many times we can get caught up in trying to “book the job” and lose sight of the joys of doing the job. We work hard to inspire our students to find their own voice and grow artistically. We work with each of our members to build a strong foundation and develop their personal gifts.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think three very important qualities to develop are passion, connection and perseverance. When first starting out I think it very important to find out what you are passionate about and why. Look for opportunities and people who share those passions and build a community. I also think it is important to use that passion and create projects that are important to you. I’m a big believer in “passion projects”. They will always teach you a lot about yourself. Also I think it is important in the beginning to try to avoid “the problem is”. There are always going to be people who will let you know what the problem is. When you are putting together a project you may hear “the problem is” a lot. Instead of looking at the problems, I always find it more useful to ask “what is the solution?” Try to find people who offer inspiration, ideas, and solutions. They are gold.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am always looking to collaborate with passionate and creative partners. People who are interested in building and developing “passion projects”. We love working with creative and driven people on projects that they feel strongly about at The Annex. They can always reach us at our website www.theannexactingstudio.com
