Meet Rebecca Bridges

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rebecca Bridges a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Rebecca, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
One way that I intentionally keep my creativity alive is by traveling. There is so much inspiration found in the world around us — from beautiful colors in nature to the varying lines of architecture and design. I especially love looking to the past for inspiration — everything from color palettes to tile designs to the intricate lay of hardwood flooring. Good design is timeless and that’s something we really strive for here at House of Drennan — creating unique spaces and homes for families that will remain just as good fifty years from now as it is today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
In 2018, I founded House of Drennan, an interior design firm located in Rock Hill, SC. We specialize in full service residential renovation projects. Meaning, we work with clients from concept all the way through to completion. We

House of Drennan began after following a life-long passion of design + décor. growing up, the three most influential women in my life; martha drennan, my grandmother, jane, my aunt, + kathy, my mother, instilled in me a love of antiques + classic design, an appreciation for quality, heirloom pieces and taught me the importance of family + southern tradition.

House of Drennan was coined in their honor.

over the years, our team has become known for creating classic, curated, colorful interiors — add in a few antiques, modern art + a dash of whimsy, and you’ve landed on our firm’s signature look.

We encourage our clients to select “forever” pieces that will stand the test of time, incorporating meaningful items into their home, including modern art + textiles, and mixing both high ticket + budget items for a collected, curated, comfortable look.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
When I started House of Drennan, I felt pretty confident in my knowledge about design and decor. I had completed an internship, worked for another decorator, completed numerous renovations, taken classes online, and gained my CAD certification. I felt prepared! lol. I was not. I was not at all prepared for running an actual business. I had never taken a small business class or course and I was simply learning as I go. My husband, who is also a small business owner, was tremendously helpful in helping me create processes, learn the basics of business (profit, loss, margins, etc.) and guide me in the right direction whenever I wasn’t sure how to proceed. I would encourage anyone thinking of opening their own business to find a class or online course to learn to do the same.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
My parents have done more for me than I could ever put into words. But, I am probably most grateful for their gift of travel. We traveled, as a family, near and far… and we traveled often. Everywhere from National Parks to Europe to the Caribbean to the mountains of North Carolina. I loved them all equally. I didn’t know it at the time, but these travels shaped so many aspects of my life — most especially for my love of architecture and design. My husband and I are trying to do the same for our own children.
