Carolina, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
My inspirations fuel my creativity. I constantly live new experiences; I am naturally curious and love to research, observe, and immerse myself in reading. I greatly enjoy connecting with both nature and people. I adore gazing at the sky, tracking the movement of clouds and stars. My creativity is also nourished through dancing and listening to music. This is how my creative process begins, inspired by my everyday life.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hello, my name is Carolina Nuñez Bussolini, and I was born in Argentina. I’m a visual artist, and my journey with art began at a young age. I always sought out any available scrap of paper to express my creativity, and from that point forward, I’ve carried a deep passion for the arts. Whenever I sit in front of a blank canvas, my inspiration is drawn from the realms of music and nature. I immerse myself in the sounds and colors, fully surrendering to the unique moment of crafting a work of art. In my creative process, I embrace various techniques and materials, constantly exploring and learning. This exploration ranges from crafting sculptures out of recycled materials to the thrilling world of digital art, which has become a newfound passion. From the very moment I first held a brush, my artistic path was clear: abstract art. Its enigmatic nature has always fascinated me. To me, colors are manifestations of energy, and I take delight in blending, merging, and experimenting with them. My mission is to introduce fresh creations into the world—artworks that are truly unique and open to as many interpretations as there are individuals who contemplate them.
My long-standing aspiration was to transform my artworks into fashion accessories, and after countless hours of dedication, my collection of silk scarves featuring some of my creations was brought to life. I’ve been creating art for many years, with my initial 70 pieces being painted on small canvas frames using oil paints.
It wasn’t until 2017 that I decided to venture into the world of selling my artworks. To achieve this, I shifted my focus towards larger formats and predominantly embraced acrylics, which allowed me to incorporate vibrant colors and explore new techniques. My artwork is frequently exhibited both within the Argentine art scene and internationally.
Notably, in 2018, I had the honor of being a finalist in the Global Art Awards held in Dubai, representing Argentina as the sole participant from the country. Furthermore, I am an active member of the Association of Contemporary Art Curators, and I promote and sell my creations through my website, as well as in art fairs and online galleries.
In March 2022, my husband, my daughter, and I made the life-changing move to Minnesota, settling in Woodbury. After residing here for a year and a half, I have begun to identify opportunities to rekindle my artistic career within the United States. This includes collaborating with businesses and interior designers, and planning my participation in the 2023/24 art fair calendar.
One of the remarkable opportunities that paved the way for this resurgence was a project with 3M in October 2022, in commemoration of Hispanic Heritage Month. This project involved collaboration with employees to create the artwork “The Union,” centered around the unity and intersection of Hispanic communities in a shared space. It was a truly unique and wonderful experience.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I always wanted to study Fine Arts, but many people told me it wasn’t a viable career. So, at the time, I chose to study Economics first and then Architecture. Working full-time, my course schedules became complicated, which later led me to change my path and graduate in Public Relations from the Universidad Argentina de la Empresa. I worked in various companies for 15 years and also trained in alternative medicine, including Reiki and gemotherapy. In my free time, I attended various art workshops, and painting became my hobby. All these career changes allowed me to engage with thousands of books and topics. I’m a very curious person, I’m passionate about all human knowledge, but most importantly, I wanted to learn and discover myself. To understand who I am and why I’m here. With these profound questions, my journey led me to explore many religions, philosophical thoughts, hermetic knowledge, and ancient symbolism. Some of my favorite books include “The Kybalion,” “Concerning the Spiritual in Art” by Kandinsky, “On the Bauhaus,” “On Pedagogical Thought,” and “Universal Reiki.”
At some point on my journey, many years ago, my partner encouraged me to return to what I love so much: “PAINTING.” I realized that I had to be the “Artist I always wanted to be” and fully commit to this passion I cherish. I will never give up, and I will continue on this path, no matter how challenging it may be, to introduce my artworks to the world. Over the years, with the constant support of my family, I have been able to dedicate 100% of my time to being an artist. I love what I do.”
You need to do whant you want to BE.!

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
Certainly, here’s an improved version of your text:

“The most significant challenge lies in making my work known and selling it—figuring out the ‘how,’ ‘where,’ and ‘when.’ Earning a full-time living as an artist has been a long and fulfilling journey for me. Throughout, I’ve been fortunate to have the unwavering encouragement and support of my husband, who stood by my side as I pursued my dream.

The world of art demands passion, determination, patience, commitment, and an ever-present adaptability. It means setting and achieving personal and professional goals, maintaining motivation, and embracing flexibility. Often, I invest countless hours in my work, and doubts can creep in, questioning whether I’m on the right path.

Being an independent artist necessitates discipline and perseverance, steadfastly facing adversity. It involves donning multiple hats, from creating artwork to self-promotion on social media, while juggling roles as both seller, packager, and courier. Additionally, pursuing participation in art fairs is a must, sometimes entailing fees with no guarantee of acceptance.

An artist’s responsibilities also encompass crafting digital catalogs, capturing high-quality photographs of artworks, and presenting them on our website with meticulous details, including dimensions, techniques employed, materials used, and pricing. Cultivating connections with physical and virtual galleries is pivotal to extending our reach and visibility.

Moreover, in today’s ever-evolving art landscape, staying abreast of new technologies and trends is essential. This entails exploring opportunities within emerging domains like NFTs (non-fungible tokens), virtual reality (VR), and artificial intelligence (AI). Vigilance against scams is equally crucial.

In summary, being an artist entails far more than the act of creation; it’s an odyssey of self-discovery, unwavering perseverance, and perpetual learning. We must be not only artists but also entrepreneurs and staunch advocates for our own work.

I hope to connect with a community of galleries and designers here, fostering artistic growth and collaboration. With love. Carolina
