Meet Ryan McKee

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ryan McKee a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Ryan, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes from my mom and dad. Both were hard workers, especially my mother who never stopped. They never let me quit things halfway through a season and was always expected to put in the effort.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
At McSmalls Media, we produce The Stephie Smalls Show. It’s an irreverent livestream and podcast about sports betting and fantasy sports. We feel there should be so many different personalities in the space and the industry has only scratched the surface with creativity.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Learning how to run a video production while at The Late Late Show with James Corden. Self-teaching myself (with the help of some great friends) how to edit video.
Learning how to write comedy at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Honestly, my biggest focus area of growth in the past year is working on myself. I didn’t have a healthy work/life balance for the first 20 years of my career. Now, I’m spending more time on meditation and personal growth. That includes working on passion products that spur my creativity, whether there is money there or not in the beginning.
