Meet Rho Slay

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rho Slay. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rho below.

Hi Rho , so excited to have you with us today, particularly to get your insight on a topic that comes up constantly in the community – overcoming creativity blocks. Any thoughts you can share with us?
Creative blocks can be draining at times, but I usually always hear music in my head, sometimes there can be days where your energy just isn’t there.

That’s when I will listen to other artists that help inspire me to create, also listening to audiobooks, and motivational dialogue plays a major role in encouraging me to keep going on those days that I might not feel best to create.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My Name is Rho Slay I am a Music Producer, Audio Engineer, DJ, as well as an A & R consultant.

I Create music daily, Usually from scratch every now and then I may use samples to explore my creativity within that sample, and I love collaborating with other producers & artists as well.

I love creating music how can I not? I am music, music has always been spiritual to me in so many different ways and I feel that music can heal people, and that’s exactly what I want my music to do.

Heal others when they hear my music, let it touch people in places other music can’t.
Whether it helps put them in a better space mentally, or emotionally I want to be a part of that process.

That is why it’s a must that I continue to walk in my definite purpose, I was blessed with this talent and have been doing music since I was a kid I have to continue to share it with the world not just for the people, but for myself.

Working with different artists, and building relationships is very important, and I look forward to continue building, and working with more super producers, artists, engineers, & managers along the way.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Even if you get 0 likes keep posting no matter what, because someone sees you, and you never know who’s watching, who’s listening, and who admires you behind those phones & computer screens.

Enjoy the process don’t try to rush it.
Have fun doing what you love, and keep stepping out on faith
Someone told me to put the ball in the hoop every day, and it’s been sticking with me this year.

Your network is your net worth.
So I would say breaking out of your comfort zone is an area of knowledge at least it was for me
Because I have always been an introvert, and just really to myself. So I never was open to just introducing myself to new people, and once I read some books, and watched some shows that teach self-reflection I learned how to be more open to communicating with people, stepping out of my comfort zone, and learning to brand myself.
If you want different you have to do different, and you have to move differently.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Absolutely open to collaborating with more artists, songwriters, and producers that are seriously working and elevating within their craft, and take it seriously. I would also like to work with more music supervisors for sync licensing in TV and Film as well. I’m working on my music daily.
