Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Layla Boyd . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Layla , so excited to have you with us today, particularly to get your insight on a topic that comes up constantly in the community – overcoming creativity blocks. Any thoughts you can share with us?
With being a creative it is so normal to have creativity blocks.. However, I think it’s so important to take some time out of your day/week and truly lock in with yourself. Rediscover your passion and find new ways to enhance that interest and get inspired. For me, first starting out with my True Crime Podcast I’d set time aside to sit in a quite space and take notes on any cases and also watch my favorite True Crime content creators to get inspired and remember why I started!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Layla Boyd and I am a Media Correspondent and Content Creator. I enjoy all things media, mainly I have been focusing on launching my True Crime Content, “Crime of the Week with Layla B”. Growing up I’ve always had an interest in True Crime, including watching Investigation Discovery etc. There are so many creators that fueled my passion for it and inspired me to make it a platform. I am currently doing some rebranding but sure enough, Crime of the Week with Layla B will be back with new episodes soon!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities that hav been impactful on my journey would be patience, consistency and passion. Patience plays a huge role because you have to trust that whatever you want out of this life is already yours, it just may not come when you’re expecting it. Consistency is defiantly a given, being consistent in your line of work creates an audience and provides the disciple to get going when you know there are others supporting you and that in itself is an adrenaline rush! Lastly, passion is what drives everything, you have to have that passion behind what ever you are doing! Passion is how you keep going.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
Get Out Of Your Way by Russ is an amazing book! Russ talking about how everything you want in life starts with you and your mindset. He always knew he’d be a star but he had to do the ground work, stay down and stay patient throughout the journey. He eliminated his doubts and stuck to his guns. A quote from the book that means the most would be “Trust the what, f*ck the when, never forget the why”.
