Meet Keion Williams

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Keion Williams. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Keion below.

Keion, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
When I was born at 1 lbs 4 ounces, I was already counted out. My mom was told I would not make it over night. I don’t remember those times but seeing photos of me and hearing about my first 6 months of life in the hospital, it was important for me to have a purpose. Its difficult to be misunderstood because you are different and many times you want to give up and not care. I have seen my mom, my aunt and my grandmother stay strong and be resilient everyday just like I was as a baby. When I am stressed, faced with adversity or trauma strikes, I still experience anger and pain, but I am able to keep going both physically and psychologically.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
In early 2023 my mom asked me what type of business I would want to have. I have always had a love for gaming and hope one day to have a career in developing games for kids like me. Its important for kids with aspergers to have their own space and be creative.

I started Bounsupreme Party Supplies, LLC where we rent out bounce houses, 360 photo booth and tables & chairs. My mom and my brother Courtney helped me purchase my supplies to get started, we worked on my website, opened a bank account and started promoting.

I love being a young entrepreneur. I love being able to earn my own money and learn to do something for myself at the same time. I hope to be more independent as I get older

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I believe for me I have always been kind to others even when they treated me different. I always wanted to treat people good and hope for the same in return.

I have always been persistence. I have the ability to keep pushing despite challenges, setbacks, or some failures. I am persistence when I ask my mom for things I want as well.

My emotional intelligence allows me the ability to understand and manage my own emotions, and empathize with the emotions of others.

My advice would be to treat people kind and embrace your differences. Everyone is not the same and God made us special for a reason. I think helping others makes the day easier.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
My biggest obstacle right now would be graduating high school and transitioning into an adult. There are so many test you have to take, so many meetings with counselors and teachers and everyone wanting to know what you want to do when you leave high school. Everyone ask the same question and push their ideas and thoughts down your neck. I’m suppose to have all the answers now because in November I’ll be 18 and in May of 2024 I’ll be a high school graduate. But I don’t…

I know I like to game, I know I like working with my hands and I know someday I want to live on my own but I’m not sure how that’s all gonna happen. My mom tries to prepare me for being an adult. She says it will be harder for me and she doesn’t want people to take advantage of me.

I think about it everyday and I know ill use my skills and brains to be something special, make lots of money and make everyone proud. I feel like I have been through a lot of obstacles and this is just one more I will finish on top.
