We were lucky to catch up with Sai Jarvis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sai, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
I always take a trip back to what made me excited about music and being a DJ. I listen to the songs that inspired me and watch old music videos to get that vibe and feeling again. This always helps keep me inspired and motivated.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a professional DJ by title however I don’t define myself as just a DJ, I consider myself an Artist because I create an experience with the music I choose to play. I’m very passionate about making people feel good and free. My motivation is the way people respond to my sets. It’s not about just playing music it’s about a journey, a feeling, a vibe that brings people together.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
As far as knowledge from a very early age I memorized songs, tempos, lyrics and the artists who created these projects. This helped me in my DJ career because I am able to play without a setlist. I freestyle all my sets by music memory. As far as my skills I am pretty savvy with the turntables I and a technology nerd I guess. Thanks to my father and brother. In addition I am good with people.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
My ideal client is the person or people who love music and not just the trendy stuff. It’s not much about age than it is about wanting to really have fun. My ideal client loves dancing and is open minded to different genres. Many of these DJs nowadays are stuck in a box where they can’t or won’t experiment because they are trying to appeal to a trend. Not me
