We recently connected with Nita Ann and have shared our conversation below.
Nita, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Developing my confidence and self-esteem was an ongoing process from childhood to now. I actually separate the two even though they go hand and hand. I learned how to improve my confidence more over the past couple of years by noticing how to change my actions. My actions reflect my confidence. If I wanted to see more accomplishments and achievements in my life, I knew I had to put the time, and energy into it. I am grateful for where I’m at in life so far and that just keeps growing and maintaining the confidence within myself. For my self-esteem, I know what I deserve and I want to see it through, but I know I have to take the actions first to get what I deserve for myself which is creating the life I want for myself.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Nita! I’m originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, and came to Tenessee for college and decided to stay and make Nashville, TN my home. I wanted to continue on with my journey of making a difference in the music industry in some way. Life made a huge change for me after I graduated college with a degree in music business and marketing when COVID-19 happened. Since the music industry was on pause, this pushed me to focus more on my side hobby to turn it into a career. Since I love the music industry so much I thought if I took pictures of artists and singers who truly need content for their social media, maybe in a way I’m making a difference, like I’ve always wanted to do in the first place. That’s where I started, then I found myself helping all kinds of people who needed content for their social media. I quickly became the girl who only shoots with her iPhone in town to the girl who shoots on her iPhone for a living. I’ve shot over 400+ musicians, artists, influencers, small business owners, and much more. I’ve made a career from my iPhone in only 3-4 years.
I’m hosting my first free event seminar in Nashville, TN on October 15th, 2023, where I’ll be discussing how I became a well-known iPhone photographer, videographer, and entrepreneur. I’m a professional iPhone photographer who not only
does photography but also shoots music videos with just my iPhone and has been featured on BET Soul and CMT. I’ve also been on Nashville’s News Channel 4 & 5 sharing my photography work and have had my work featured on the Nashville Sign billboard as Artist of The Week, radio shows, magazines, newspapers, and much more.
I’m glad I used my“out of the box” marketing strategy that gave me the ability to get 1-3 clients that come to me daily and plan to share the strategy that helped me kick off my photography career in only 3-4 years. I currently travel and reside in my dream home, a high-rise in downtown Nashville, but want to share this “out of the box” journey opportunity with others who share an interest in making photography with just their mobile devices and inspire others to make their side hustle into a career! My seminars will help me to achieve that goal and pretty soon I’ll be traveling to different cities and educating others on evolving your business and the amazing things you can do to use your phone to your advantage.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Learning how to manage my money, time, and self-discipline were the three factors that were most impactful in my journey. The advice I have for others is to never give up because you can learn from trial, error, and failures. All businesses have up and down periods and seasons, it’s just your job to make sure it’s going in an upward direction along with up and down waves like a heart monitor. The only way it’s going to go up is if you choose to learn and grow from it. If you are not learning and growing from it, you will remain stagnant and it will feel like you are not getting anywhere. Do some research, and read books, that’s why knowledge is important. If other people can figure it out and make it happen so can you.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
Anytime I had an issue or problem I knew if I didn’t know the answer I could always Youtube, Google, Pinterest, and read books. We live in a day and age where knowledge is more easily accessible now than it was years ago.
