We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Courtney J. Green. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Courtney J. below.
Hi Courtney J., appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from my personal vendetta I have with being successful . As a youth of course I had my day with not adhering to guidance. Only because their view was limited. The internet wasn’t out when most of the relatives and elders were born so moving into the future and being successful they wouldn’t have adequate information. When challenged they resorted to limiting resources and when asked they give bad information, no fault of their own its what was done to them.
I was told early on “A hard head makes a soft ass..” I would reply “Good thing I don’t kiss ass.” Or “You gonna learn” my reply “I know that’s why I stayed in school.” I never intended to be smarter then them or appear that way I just enjoyed meeting a challenge and over coming it.
People reflect their reality on to you when you have a different perspective of success.
People value different things and make premature decisions on being comfortable in life. Most survive I believe in thriving. If I was told I can’t I showed you I can. If you said I didn’t i just might do it again..
Egorgaynt as it sounds I developed a defend mannerism around my integrity. I didn’t seek out opinions but when brought to me I remedy them with my facts and receipts of what I have done. This mental reflex I developed from a quote I would say everyday to myself for reassurance into myself and push to my purpose “If I say I can who else is there to prove it too” the answer would as ways be “You”
That stemmed the begin of my resilience. And it continue to grow I said to a friend in high school Bobby Davis I’m going to make the honor roll for the rest of my high tenure and I did 11th and 12th grade. I said I’ll graduate college in 4 years and I did.I said one day I’ll make my own clothes which developed into a brand and I did.
I took the power from the opposition early in life because again it only reflected their reality. Coming from a poor and drug stricken background I understood giving into your surroundings doesn’t make you better it makes you another statistic and I personally was better then that and had a lot more to offer myself and those around me.
I’d be lying to you if I told you I succeeded in every venture I attempted. I also tried and failed but I didn’t give up. My final affirmation that has me driven in life at a constant pace is “failing is not failure but only the opportunity to try and get it right again”.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
As the CEO of my production company I’m currently socking out new business ventures. I have a cologne coming out this fall called Autumn Air partnered with scent craft a fragrance development company out of New York. I’m currently meeting with bank managers for sponsorship for my annual Stayfed Community day. Along with radio satiation partnerships I developed for music spins on Hot103.9 in Columbia SC.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My three most important qualities I developed in my journey are Stay true to yourself and you will fufill every dream (Stayfed). Having integrity and live in the present. Your purpose is in you and what’s in you will come out of you.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
In closing a lot of people struggle with mental Illnesses from depression to anxiety. I want to bring awareness to them both I had a brother commit suicide in 2007. I want you to know nothing is the end of the world there are people and resources to help you thru those taught times. People have a hard time asking for help or believing someone cares, surround yourself with like minded individuals and research good habits to keep your mind away from those things that don’t develop you in a positive way.
