We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Camille Kauer. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Camille below.
Hi Camille, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
The best way I’ve been able to improve my self-esteem and confidence is by always being prepared. Successful actors and leaders, often work hard to perfect their craft through training, rehearsing, and studying. I am no different. I am constantly taking new classes, networking, and studying.
I also recognize that words have power, and try to limit any negative self-talk. Actors get a lot of rejection, it’s just part of the job! To keep my mental health in check, I build myself up with positive self-talk. This involves replacing negative thoughts with positive ones and reminding themselves of my strengths and accomplishments.
I also like to take risks and see what I can accomplish. Iron sharpens iron so having constant challenges just makes me stronger. This helps me grow and develop new skills, which in turn increases my confidence.
I have an amazing support system. Having a strong support system helps me build back my confidence. My immediate family, friends, mentors, and colleagues, provide encouragement and constructive feedback.
And finally, I know when it’s time to recharge my batteries, “self-care.” Taking care of myself builds my self-esteem and confidence. I like to exercise, have proper nutrition, rest, and engage in activities that bring joy.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I have been very busy this past March with speaking at several global events for Women’s History Month, I’ll be starring in a documentary about successful women in business, and currently airing my sixth season of the award-winning podcast, The E-Spot with Camille.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The top three skills that have helped me become successful are versatility, resilience, and creativity!
Developing versatility requires studying different acting techniques, working with various directors and coaches, and taking on challenging and diverse roles. Last year I volunteered as a Lifestyle correspondent for a talk show on The CW Austin. I learned how to work in a fast-paced environment, and produced and wrote my scripts.
Building resilience is tricky, you can cultivate a growth mindset, practice self-compassion, and seek support from friends, family, or even a therapist. I volunteer and get involved as much as possible in my community to build my resilience.
Being surrounded by creative people helps keep me stay inspired. I attend cultural events, and trade shows and travel somewhere new. I also love to explore different art forms, engage in creative exercises, and take risks with my career choices.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Feeling overwhelmed is a common experience for actors, podcast hosts, entrepreneurs, and mothers, as these roles can be demanding and require a lot of time, energy, and attention. However, there are some proven strategies and common-sense advice that can help you overcome feelings of overwhelm and regain a sense of balance and control in your life. Here are some tips that you might find useful:
Prioritize your tasks: When you have a lot of things to do, it can be easy to get overwhelmed and feel like everything is equally important. However, prioritizing your tasks can help you focus on what needs to be done first and give you a sense of direction. Make a list of your tasks and rank them in order of importance and urgency, then tackle them one by one.
Break big tasks into smaller ones: Big projects can seem overwhelming, but breaking them down into smaller, more manageable tasks can make them less daunting. Set achievable goals for each day or week, and focus on making progress rather than trying to complete everything at once.
Take breaks: It can be tempting to work non-stop when you have a lot to do, but taking regular breaks can actually help you be more productive in the long run. Schedule short breaks throughout your day to stretch, take a walk, or do something else that helps you relax and recharge.
Delegate tasks: If you have a team or support system, don’t be afraid to delegate tasks to others. This can help lighten your workload and give you more time and energy to focus on what you do best.
Practice self-care: Taking care of yourself is crucial when you have a lot going on. Make sure to get enough sleep, eat well, and exercise regularly. Make time for activities that bring you joy and help you recharge, whether it’s reading, listening to music, or spending time with loved ones.
Get organized: Having a clear, organized space can help you feel less overwhelmed and more in control. Take some time to declutter your workspace and create a system for keeping track of your tasks and deadlines.
Seek support: Don’t be afraid to reach out to friends, family, or professionals if you’re feeling overwhelmed. Talking to someone else can help you gain perspective and find solutions to your problems.
Remember, feeling overwhelmed is a normal part of life, but it doesn’t have to control you. By using these strategies and common-sense advice, you can overcome feelings of overwhelm and find a sense of balance and control in your life.
