We were lucky to catch up with Conswella Smith recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Conswella, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I found my purpose while overcoming health obstacles in going through life’s journey. Starting from challenges with recurring skin conditions throughout my family history leading up to personal mental, physical, and emotional health challenges.
Each generation within my family struggled with recurring skin conditions and skin sensitivities such as eczema, acne, psoriasis, rosacea, and dermatitis. Nothing of the counter worked in healing our skin. A lot of the products contained harmful chemicals and by products that irritated the skin. As a master cosmetologist, I decided to take my studies back to our traditional roots in healing our skin with natural ingredients used by our ancestors. This is when I discovered that this issue within our community was even more common within the top ten being eczema psoriasis and dermatitis.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m the Founder of A Queen’s Essentials Natural Skincare Products and a Skincare Wellness Life Coach that encourages full-body mindfulness and self-love while maintaining your outer core in developing the power of habit with a daily stimulating skincare regimen. I’ve also experienced medical scares, mentally and physically, that have totally shifted and transformed my lifestyle. As a result, my aspirations are to make an impact through testimonies and my Queen’s lifestyle to overcome any health challenge and life obstacle.
My mission is to Educate, Empower, Promote, and Elevate Skincare Wellness in Loving the Skin that you’re in, from the Inside/Out. Our natural skincare products cater to women and men who are going through recurring skin conditions and maturing skin challenges. We have created simple skincare regimen packages and have amazing body products to cater to your skincare needs. Our products include facial cleansers, toners, moisturizers and serums. We also have an amazing selection of body lotions, butters, scrubs, and more!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The most impactful things that I’ve learned throughout my journey is to:
1. Know who you are and where you would like to go- This does not mean trying to do it alone. It is absolutely ok to ask for help and seek wisdom on the way from others . Trust the process and be open to discovering your true potential by tapping into your true self and gifted craft.
2. Understand the Risk and Rewards- Maintaining a business is never easy. It’s ok to make mistakes through the process as you go. Stay open and be willing to shift in order to be a success. You will find that the rewards are phenomenal and plentiful.
3. Always balance business and family lifestyle. There is a time for the business and also a separate time for family. Re-fuel is important in balancing both. Your personal time is important to your overall health and will allow you to achieve your business goals along with allowing a healthier mindset in creativity.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing that my parents did for me was to teach me endurance and how to be an entrepreneur. My mother and father collectively owned three restaurants and two hair salons.
An entrepreneur is an individual who takes the risk to start their own business based on an idea they have or a product they have created while assuming most of the risks and reaping most of the rewards of the business. My parents have taught me that dedication, high-risk taking, motivation, sacrifice, and visioning provides the abundant blessings. It opens more doors than you can ever think or imagine.
