We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Morgana Rae. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Morgana below.
Morgana, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.
I found the best place to start is with myself: it is easier to respond to the haters and nay-sayers on the outside if I deal with my inner hater and nay-sayer first.
Years ago I remember receiving emails from a colleague announcing her $20,000 mastermind. “Twenty thousand dollars,” I thought to myself. “That is obscene!” I couldn’t believe she had the gall to charge so much.
Then I started to see the success stories and testimonials from the women who coughed up the $20K. It started to look like a good deal. When I got her email promoting a 2-day live event for $10,000, again I was outraged! And then I paid it.
I sat at her 2 event, with a check ready to pay $20,000 (that I didn’t yet have) for her year long mastermind. Except now the price tag was $100,000.
Oh my rage and fury! Until I realized just how many people in the audience were lining up to buy that program. People who would be MY ideal clients. People I would never have imagined could invest a fraction of that tuition.
That was my big aha moment, when I thought, “Thank you for showing me what’s possible.” And that’s how I shifted my own hate to gratitude. Whether her program was worth $100k or not, I cannot say. But through her I saw how deeply I had been underestimating my own client pool, and that was 100% on me.
That’s part one. The other part is confronting the inner voice that says YOU are not good enough, not deserving. My solution is what I call Financial Alchemy®:
I put my own negative experiences of rejection and disappointment, my feelings of inadequacy and insecurity, and I put them into an imaginary entity, the “Money Monster.” I imbue that monster with everything that has ever made me feel unloved, unworthy, unsafe, or powerless. I reject and annihilate the monster. When the monster is gone, all that remains is love. I personify that love into a new relationship with money, life, and myself, and I call this new person my “Money Honey.”
When I look at myself and my business through the eyes of my kind and loving Money Honey, I can easily see the right and fair offers and the price points, without the unhelpful baggage of my own fears and neuroses.
When design my business from this place of love, I can recognize other people’s opinions are about them, not me. I can respond with less friction, more compassion, and healthy boundaries.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Having proven definitively that an Ivy League education, celebrity clients, taglines and testimonials, half a dozen master coach certifications, and every Law of Attraction gimmick in the world were no match for my own Superpowers of Money Repulsion, I was struggling to make $100 a month, back in 2003, in Los Angeles, California. I had taken every marketing course, sales course, and mindset course available in the late 90’s early aughts, and I had a reputation for working magic in the entertainment industry. None of it mattered. I was still making $100 a month.
I found my financial results changed for the better (to the tune of millions of dollars) only after I changed my relationship with money as if it were a person. And that set me on course to becoming an international best-selling author and world-famous authority on making millions while putting LOVE first.
11 years ago, long after slaying my money monster, I slayed my love monster! I met my husband 2 months later. I was 45 at the time, never married, with a perfect score for romantic failure. Since then my husband and I have married each other 26 times in 21 countries, with an aim to marry 100 times in 100 countries. (100% his idea.)
When you get rid of the monster and make what you want safe, it’s shocking how fast (and big!) the results can show up.
It has been my experience, coaching thousands of clients over many decades, that change happens at the speed of safety. If you’re doing the work and not seeing the results, something isn’t safe yet. I have found this to be true for money, love, health, and other blocks that arise in life.
I believe transformation should be available whatever your circumstance (and you are bigger than your circumstance!), so I offer hundreds of free articles and videos on my blog, as well as a free “Money Love Quiz” for a more curated guide to your next steps to making money fall in love with you. Everything is available on my website at www.MorganaRae.com.
I speak on stages around the world, and I coach clients privately or in small, semi-private programs like my “90 Days of Money Honey Love” or my “Ultimate Money Goddess Experience” retreat in Bali.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I have had some very dark nights of the soul, including a violent, addict parent, a traumatic brain injury, and homelessness when I was in high school. A refusal to give and die–even when I desperately wanted to–is probably the handiest character trait I’ve had in this lifetime.
When I encounter other people in a similar state, my advice is:
1) Things will get better, but you must stay alive long enough for them to get better. That’s your only job right now.
2) Take baby steps. Commit to less than you think you can do. Baby steps build confidence. Confidence builds momentum. Baby steps get bigger without you noticing.
3) USE your suffering as leverage for change. Your victim experiences are sacred. They give you the capacity to understand and respect the experiences of other living beings. If you’re in the much right now, creating and destroying your monster is so much easier for you: you have the advantage. Use it.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My FAVORITE clients are grown up Hermione Graingers–the smartest person in the room–who’s hitting her too-low ceiling in money and love.
I call these my “Athena Archetype” women, based on the Greek Goddess of War and Wisdom. These women Get Shit Done, whether they work in Tech or Tarot.
My Athena women typically battle burn out and loneliness. Often my Athena women can’t find a partner who’s big enough for her brilliance. Some of my Athenas have been wounded by competitiveness or unkindness from other women, and they may not feel safe with their sisters.
These are the EASIEST women for me to shift, so that it becomes SAFE to multiply their money quickly, (I have case study after case study of these women moving from scarcity to 6, 7 & even 8 figures), SAFE to have a sisterhood that supports them and doesn’t feel competitive, SAFE to marry a good man (or woman, or They) worthy of her love and trust.
