Meet Adam Treasure

We recently connected with Adam Treasure and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Adam , appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?
It’s a culmination of several factors. Firstly, it stems from my deep love for craft and the desire to bring characters to life in the most authentic way possible. Secondly, it comes from the knowledge that acting is a highly competitive field, and to succeed, one must continually improve.

I’ve also cultivated self-discipline through years of training and practice. It’s the daily routine of voice exercises, script analysis, and physical conditioning that keeps me sharp. Moreover, the support and encouragement from mentors, fellow actors, and my passion for the art keep me motivated.

Lastly, I believe self-discipline is intertwined with professionalism. Knowing that my work impacts others on set. So, my self-discipline as an actor is a result of passion, training, perseverance, and the understanding that it’s both an art and a craft that demands dedication.”

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Absolutely! Acting, for me, is about bringing stories to life and connecting with audiences on an emotional level. What I find most exciting and special about it is the transformative power of the craft. Each role is a journey into a different world, a chance to explore the depths of human experience.

In terms of my ‘brand’ as an actor, I strive for versatility. Whether it’s drama, comedy, or any genre, I aim to embody my characters authentically and leave a lasting impact. I believe in the power of storytelling to inspire and provoke thought.

As for anything new, I’m constantly exploring new projects and opportunities. Keep an eye out for upcoming performances, collaborations, and artistic endeavors. I’m always excited to share my passion for acting with you, and I hope to continue delivering memorable experiences through my work.”

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey as an actor, I’d say there are three key qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that have had the most impact:

1. **Emotional Resilience:** Acting often requires delving into complex and emotionally charged scenarios. Developing emotional resilience has been crucial. To those starting their journey, I’d advise that they work on understanding their own emotions, practicing empathy, and finding healthy ways to process and manage intense feelings.

2. **Adaptability:** The ability to adapt to different roles, directors, and styles of acting is essential. Continuously expand your range and be open to trying new things. Take acting classes, workshops, and be willing to step out of your comfort zone.

3. **Script Analysis:** Understanding the nuances of a script and the motivations of your character is fundamental. Early actors should dedicate time to honing their script analysis skills. Read widely, dissect characters, and seek feedback to improve your interpretation.

For those just starting their journey, my advice would be to:

– **Study and Train:** Invest in quality acting classes and workshops to build a strong foundation.
– **Observe and Learn:** Watch performances, both live and on screen, critically. Pay attention to actors you admire and analyze what makes their work impactful.
– **Practice Regularly:** The more you practice, the more you improve. Work on monologues, scenes, and audition pieces consistently.
– **Seek Mentorship:** Find a mentor or acting coach who can provide guidance and constructive feedback.
– **Stay Persistent:** Acting can be a challenging path. Stay persistent, believe in yourself, and keep auditioning and seeking opportunities.

Remember that every actor’s journey is unique, so embrace your individuality and use these qualities and skills as a foundation to build upon.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
One book that has significantly influenced my journey as an actor is ‘The Actor’s Art and Craft’ by William Esper. It’s a treasure trove of wisdom for actors, and a few of the most impactful nuggets of wisdom I’ve gleaned from it include the importance of ‘living truthfully under imaginary circumstances,’ which reminds us to make our performances authentic and believable.

Another valuable insight is the idea that ‘action defines character.’ This concept emphasizes the importance of understanding your character’s motivations and how they drive the story.

Lastly, Esper’s book emphasizes the value of patience and perseverance in this challenging profession, reminding us that growth as an actor is a continual process. It’s a book that I return to time and again for guidance and inspiration in my craft.”
