Meet Christy Bareijsza

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christy Bareijsza. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Christy, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
As a second generation entrepreneur, I learned from a young age the time and effort required to develop a sustainable business through watching my father strategize expansion, forge relationships and remain tenacious in times of strife. Despite benefitting from his success as his child, with every advantage, I was grounded with a requirement to contribute through physical effort or monetary support to ensure these gifts were never taken for granted. Expanding on that core childhood experience, multiplied by the challenge of selling an intangible service, I incorporated his entrepreneurial methodology and daily practice with an acute awareness that failure is not an option. In order to achieve a similar success in my own company, I consistently formulate innovative strategies, source opportunities outside the confines of “normal” business methods and reposition disappointments into a competitive advantage in an effort to increase success while minimizing the ever-present plateaus or setbacks.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Considered an industry expert with renown sophistication recognized by Fortune 500 companies and influential tastemakers alike. As the Creative Director of Events By Red Carpet, I develop innovative concepts that encompass full sensory experiences with a signature style that surpasses expectations. My refined breadth of work is actualized through a unique portfolio that maintains timeless appeal, while my distinct combination of talents have helped create a myriad of press-worthy events for a notable list of corporate and celebrity clients including a recent televised production streamed globally honoring the country of Wales with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

In addition, I am a featured expert speaker for Catersource, Event Solutions National Conference and the Event Planner Expo, co-author of the #1 best seller book “How To Create Events To Remember” and regular contributor to magazines and podcasts. I continue to mentor up-and-coming event professionals as a University Lecturer for Emerson, Cal State Long Beach, NYU and Hofstra. In 2021, I was proudly honored as “Smart Women in Meetings Entrepreneur of the Year” by Bright Business Media and awarded “Alumni of the Month” by Hofstra University.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three biggest qualities that have impacted in my entrepeneural journey have been Adaptability, Vision and Resilience.

Adaptability is critical to entrepreneurship, especially when navigating uncertain and changing circumstances. The ability to maintain flexibility in response to market trends, customer needs and other external factors beyond one’s control are critical for success. Secondly, Vision and Strategy, as this skill requires the need to have a clear focus and innovative mindset in order to support the ability to think critically, set long-term goals and analyze risks. The final quality is Resilience and Grit, as entrepreneurship can be challenging when facing a constant presence of setbacks and obstacles. Having an abundance of perseverance to bounce back from failures will not only enable motivation, but will ultimately develop a positive mindset and laser focus on the end goal, even when faced with overwhelming adversity.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Feeling overwhelmed is a common experience for many people and it’s important to acknowledge and address those feelings in a productive manner. As an entrepreneur, my advice when feeling this emotional pressure is to start with a deep breath and pause. When you’re feeling overwhelmed, it’s important to take a moment to calm yourself, and if you take deep breaths, it will help to clear your mind in order to gain clarity and perspective on the situation. Secondly, break tasks into smaller steps as large tasks or projects can feel overwhelming. If you break them down into smaller, more manageable steps and focus on completing one at a time, this can help you establish a smoother progress and build momentum. Finally, prioritize your focus by identifying the most important tasks or issues that need your immediate attention and put them first. Avoid multitasking where necessary, as it ultimately can increase stress and reduces productivity. By implementing these three basic strategies, you can increase the effectiveness when coping with overwhelming situations, ultimately regaining a sense of peaceful control.
