Meet Jessie Gall

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jessie Gall. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Jessie, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Starting life over in my 30’s as a single mom with twin boys really puts life in perspective. It’s not only my life that is affected by my choices but also for my children. That can make you view life in two ways: as an overwhelming and risky responsibility; or a challenge to become a living example of optimism and perseverance.

I have always loved fitness and nutrition, and in college I met some fitness competitors that were fascinating! I did not have a supportive spouse at the time, but I never stopped wondering about the competition world. After we divorced, I chose to prepare for a bikini competition and I’ve never looked back. I learned to “re-create” myself through recreation in the gym, therapy, eating healthy, and chasing a dream that was dormant for years. I stepped on stage after 12 weeks of discipline feeling like a brand new woman, and I won 1st in my novice class! While that day on stage with the lights and pageantry lifted my confidence and self-esteem beyond what I expected, the real prize has been the days since then. I have learned to focus on a new life-system, habits, and learned to celebrate small wins everyday. Finding gratitude in little moments. The confidence and self-esteem that come from following a plan, knowing you can succeed, and seeing your small wins compound into bigger or newer opportunities is almost indescribable.
Now, 4 years and 10 shows later, I won my OCB Bikini Pro status as a natural athlete and I am humbled and proud at this journey so far. I’ve been able to travel to Seattle, Las Vegas and L.A. modeling for NASM and Iron Master for their promotional content. I am beyond thankful for my life and hope my experience can encourage other women, moms, whoever, to pursue your passions and celebrate your small wins.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Other than being a single mom to my amazing twin boys, I am a register dietitian for a home infusion company and also working on becoming a Certified Sports Nutrition Coach through NASM… stay tuned for one-on-one coaching opportunities! I also launched a little t-shirt and hat company this year, “BeeFit Wear”, you can find me on Instagram, or Etsy… https://www.etsy.com/shop/BeeFitWear?ref=l2-about-shopname

I have also been honored to cosplay as “Wonder Woman” for quite a few children’s charity events around here in Atlanta through the organization Cosplay Volunteers of Atlanta. Life is about people, and we all have gifts and talents that can be used to bring other people happiness. This is one of those things that brings joy to kids and parents, and as a mom, that makes my heart smile.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1.) put the system in place and follow the plan 2.) don’t be afraid of setbacks, everybody stumbles and makes mistakes
3.) be willing to say “I don’t know it all” or “I need help”

Dream big, and if you have to start over don’t be afraid! Sometimes starting over is the best thing that can happen to you, but it’s all about perspective. I let fear hold me back from a lot of things in my life for a long time, but not anymore.
Do your research, I’m not endorsing reckless behavior, but allow yourself to dream, to try new things, to be thankful for the little things and it helps you find joy in the long run.
Ask people who have success in that area for their advice. None of us know it all, so ask people for help or advice as you are learning. “We don’t know what we don’t know”.
When you set your goal you have to make a plan and put a system in place that will get you there… the system is your day-to-day habits, the unseen work that takes you to the finish line.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
“Atomic Habits” by James Clear. Incredible book. Life changing. He discusses how to set systems in place (our habits) that lead us to consistent results. How to break old habits and why it’s so hard to break old habits and start new ones. Incredibly practical book!

Celebrate your small wins, it fuels our motivation and helps us develop gratitude.
Your habits become who you are, or, we become our habits… however you want to phrase it, we have to decide who we are/want to be and align our life with the actions that reinforce who we want to become.
