Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lutfy . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lutfy, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Life has a way of making us second guess our purpose. Society has a way of making us second guess ourselves. Whether it’s our hair, clothes, car, lack thereof, or even the friends we entertain, every portion of our lives is consistently observed and even scrutinized. I grew up in an overly critical household. Couple that with being bullied both on and offline and not to mention the general comparisons that we standardize against ourselves and those put on us, this all left me searching for my truest self. These things caused me to begin the journey of deep introspection and forced the need to purge the misunderstandings of what I was taught and adapted to. As I matured in my walk, I began strengthening my relationship with God and myself. I was finally able to connect myself, to myself. I assessed my needs, wants, passions, desires, emotions, likes and dislikes, self-love languages and of course my non-negotiables. Once I had a better sense of self, I realized that my friend circle had to be reevaluated. Clearing the clutter both literally and theoretically, I was able to hear my own voice and make the decisions that were best for me. I released the constraints of what tradition had taught me. The constraints that my community held me to. The constraints that I allowed myself to believe existed. Now I fortify myself with positive thoughts, prayers and affirmations as I hype myself up in the mirror, and I often look over photos, videos and projects that I’ve been a part of. These things help bring me back to me when I feel off-centered. They bring awareness of self and how far I’ve come and all the hard work I’ve put in. They remind me that I am worthy of owning my confidence and reassure me that it’s ok to acknowledge and live in the knowing that I AM THE SHIT! Humbly.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I currently host two conversational series on my social media platforms. Outside of dropping tidbits of wisdom and occasional comedic skits, I also MC events and host my own “Singles” dating parties.
With my series titled “And there you have it”, I conduct street interviews that are centered around life, love and relationships. At random, I grab these energetic and vulnerable souls, who pour their thoughts and feelings into these by chance moments for the world to enjoy and relate to.
The second series, titled “With Love , is a dating show broadcasted via my Instagram Live. Each Wednesday, This hour-long series focuses on creating an opportunity for a new special guest to find their potential love Match.
Having these forums of creativity and self-expression readily available keeps my spirit so full. I love being able to chat with those who still believe in love and are optimistic about the great and wonderful things that life has to offer.
I am next working on presenting a podcast centered around-drumroll please-you guessed it! Love.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Realizing that I, nor anything in life, would ever be perfect afforded me the opportunity to live in the now. It showed me that every moment mattered no matter how flawed it may be.
Embracing myself, and all that I’ve been through, was key. Trusting myself, my vision and execution of such taught me that my purpose was for me to walk in. Some people won’t see what you see and honestly they are not always meant to. It’s just like a dream. You can tell somebody all about it but they weren’t in your head to see it.
I would advise anybody that has an idea that haunts their thoughts or lives in their heart to pursue it-no matter how challenging it may appear to be or how many naysayers you may have doubting your process. There is a lane for any and all possibilities. You just have to believe in yourself and the opportunities that await.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I would enjoy collaborating with Keke Palmer. I love the way she’s navigated her career using both film/television and music to push her brand. She’s an icon and a professional inspiration to me. Her sense of humor and her director skills directly align with the type of media that I’d like to further produce. She owns her own network “keytv” and allows other creatives like myself the opportunity to grow.
I can be reached on all social media platforms as @sincerely_lutfy. Please feel free to shoot me a message directly on my IG page or via email for any opportunities for collaboration.
