Meet Frank Clemente

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Frank Clemente a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Frank, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
It’s interesting. My creative juices seem to flow through me when I go to sleep at night. I get these vivid dreams that are wild and outlandish with ideas that I can translate into future designs for my clients. I literally grab a pen and write the ideas down as soon as I wake up! Some of these bold visions come to life in unexpected ways when I craft an event’s schematic and decor, while others never come to fruition but invigorate my thinking down a new path of design discovery. Either way, seeing what the mind will dream up next is fun!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
At FrankLynn Visual Marketing (FLVM), we believe great events can transcend the celebratory moment and live on forever to deliver lasting connections and memories. Our dazzling visual design and full-service event production team create elegant, lively, and unique experiences that spark the senses and tap into the power of connection. Coming together is important, and we strive to curate events that are unconventional yet familiar.

Something I am working on now that I am incredibly excited about is a new pop-up sensory bar experience that will debut on Central Avenue in St. Pete on October 13th! This space will completely transform the bar into a brand new theme with sights, enhanced smells, interior decor, cocktail and dining menus, and social media photo props each time the guests visit. We start with the natural beauty of the fall landscape, with wood tones like burnt orange and purples filling the space, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that invites you to unwind and enjoy.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three important qualities: 1- Not be bound by a box. Learn to think outside of what others are doing so that your perspective feels boundless, even if it initially feels outrageous. I try to keep my inner child alive in my work by engaging my imagination and valuing the opinions of my team’s imaginative thoughts.
2- Constantly seek to gain inspiration. I’m always pausing to see the things that are around me. I’m inspired by the nature I see within the day – the weather, the animals, the sunsets, everything I see has the potential to spark a new idea
3- Tell someone early in their career to stay the course. When you see talent, it’s important to share the value of perseverance with them. Tell new team members to keep pursuing their creative paths and not give up. If it seems impossible, that’s the challenge. Don’t let anyone tell you it can’t be done.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
I love design books and looking at beautiful things! The Art of Anthropologie is gorgeous and has bright colors that make me happy every time I open the pages!
