Meet Andrea LaRosa

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Andrea LaRosa. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Andrea below.

Hi Andrea, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
I honestly don’t know if you ever really get over it. I think you learn how to live with it and embrace it. It becomes your motivator to succeed. When it comes to imposter syndrome you have two choices, either freeze in fear and never accomplish anything. Or acknowledge it, welcome it, and let it drive you towards greatness. As most entrepreneurs know, you have to constantly change and grow or business will fail. With each step of growth is a new level of imposter syndrome. You take your business to the next level and immediately realize that someone else is doing it too, probably better, in fact. So instead of seeing them as competition, which is where the base of imposter syndrome stems from, you see them as a colleague . They are someone you can learn from and meet at their level. Maybe someday surpass them and be at someone else’s level.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Well, if love were a stock, I’d be the broker everyone wants in their corner. Date Smarter Matchmaking, is like Wall Street for the heart. We connect singles who are looking for more than just a swipe-right kind of love. We aim to create meaningful, lasting relationships, you know, the kind that make you delete all those dating apps. What sets us apart? A rigorous, personalized approach to matchmaking, where compatibility isn’t just about shared hobbies—it’s a chemistry set of values, goals, and those inexplicable sparks.

Now, you may have heard my voice echoing through the airwaves on our podcast, Date Smarter Sexier. It’s the audio wing of my love empire, where we tackle everything from dating trends to relationship advice. Whether you’re stuck in the friend zone or in a “situationship,” we’ve got wisdom and wit to help you navigate love’s labyrinth.

But the cherry on top is my book, “Get the Girl,” which became the dating bible for modern men and women. I delve into the nuances of attraction, commitment, and everything in between. And for those chomping at the bit for another page-turner, hold onto your fedoras, because I’m currently working on my next tome. Without spilling too many beans, let’s just say it’ll delve even deeper into getting the relationship you desire.

Aside from being an author and a matchmaker, I wear yet another hat—dating and relationship consultant. So if you’re already off the market but things are a bit rocky, I’ve got more than a few tricks up my sleeve to help you transform your love life.

So, there you have it! Date Smarter Matchmaking isn’t just a business, it’s a mission to enrich lives by helping people find the kind of love that turns ordinary days into extraordinary memories. Whether through one-on-one consultations, my books, or the podcast, we’re in the business of making love happen. And business, my friends, is booming.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
First and foremost, let’s talk Emotional Intelligence. This is the bread and butter of matchmaking, and honestly, life in general. Being able to read people, understand their needs, and gauge compatibility between two individuals—well, that’s the special sauce right there. If you’re thinking of following in my stiletto steps, I’d say start honing those people skills. Engage in active listening, observe body language, and most importantly, be empathetic. Emotional Intelligence isn’t something you can fake; it’s an art form you cultivate over time.

Second would be Entrepreneurial Spirit. Sure, this business is about love, but make no mistake, it’s still a business. You need to have that innate drive to innovate, adapt, and overcome challenges. This includes everything from managing financials to leveraging social media to boost your brand. For all the go-getters out there, my advice would be to never stop learning. Whether it’s a course on marketing or a weekend seminar on leadership, arm yourself with knowledge and skills to make your enterprise a dynasty.

Last but certainly not least, let’s chat about Communication Skills. No, I don’t just mean being a smooth talker, though that never hurts. I’m talking about mastering the art of conveying ideas clearly and effectively, whether it’s through a podcast, a book, or a one-on-one consultation. As you grow, you’ll realize that every platform is a new opportunity to engage your audience and offer something valuable. So, to all the rising stars, practice, practice, practice. Write regularly, speak publicly, and get comfortable sharing your thoughts and ideas.

So there you have it: Emotional Intelligence, Entrepreneurial Spirit, and Communication Skills. If becoming a entrepreneur is your dream, let these be the stars you navigate by. And remember, we’re all works in progress, so don’t be too hard on yourself. After all, Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
Having a mentor, you see, is different from just having a business coach. While a business coach offers pragmatic, nuts-and-bolts advice for driving the bottom line, a mentor is more like a guiding star—someone who helps you navigate both the professional and personal challenges that come your way. They offer not just technical insights, but emotional intelligence, moral support, and invaluable life lessons that you won’t find in any how-to manual or online course.

For me, mentors have been indispensable in helping me fine-tune my emotional intelligence, foster my entrepreneurial spirit, and sharpen my communication skills. They’ve provided a supportive sounding board when I’ve faced challenges, whether it’s handling a particularly complex matchmaking scenario or navigating the logistics of launching a new book or podcast episode. But perhaps the most crucial role they’ve played has been in challenging me to continually reach higher, to never rest on my laurels, and to always aim for the next level of success.

What makes mentors so special is that they provide a holistic form of support that encompasses the intellectual, emotional, and ethical dimensions of what we do. They’re the ones you can turn to not just for technical advice, but also for wisdom and moral guidance. They help you grow not just as a professional, but as a human being.

So, for those just starting out or facing challenges, my advice is clear: Seek out a mentor, not just a business coach. That multi-dimensional support is priceless, offering insights that are as enriching personally as they are professionally. In a world that often feels like a roller coaster, mentors are the safety harnesses that keep you securely in your seat, allowing you to enjoy the ride and make the most of every twist and turn.
