Meet Isabel Soto

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Isabel Soto . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Isabel , thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
My generosity comes from my life experiences, the most powerful people I have met have been very generous to me and the others, the people who have the talent that I admire, are very generous as well. I think it’s a kind of wheel of life, if you have the commitment to be generous with others, life is generous with you. It may take time to learn this, but for me it is a lesson, because life is like a boomerang. I give you love and you will at least probably give me a smile back. The same with everything. That is my point of view on this path we call LIFE.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m from Spain, I started my actress career more than 17years ago. In my early actress years, I didn’t find myself connected to Hollywood or the American Dream. I was enjoying my career as an actress working in theatre and movies (where I worked with Julia Ormond in la Conjura del Escorial) or national TV series (Policias, Aida, La que se avecina, Servir y Proteger , Cuatro Estrellas ) in my country. Maybe I was lucky because I started doing roles on TV at a very young age. I didn’t realize that I was blessed! My only focus was to act, get roles “here and there” to keep developing my life’s passion. Indeed, I had the honor to work with David Trueba in four projects, a Spanish writer who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best international movie and he won a several Goya awards. His work and talent inspired me; he is an example of pure success, humble and human. My own American Dream started when in 2016, I came to study to Los Angeles at Stella Adler academy. Elia Schneider was my teacher. She made me love my profession more than ever. For me , acting is not only a business, it’s an art which is necessary to know the truth of the humanity.
I also got in love with Los Angeles then so I decided to come back a year later to attend again to her advanced classes. This time, I moved to Los Angeles. It was a big decision to make but I’m very grateful to the US. I worked with multiple talented directors, actors. I have collaborated on Amazon Prime Video movie LATIN HITMAN, were I worked with the director Damian Chapa (actor at STREET FIGHTER movie). Also, I gladly remember my role in the movie with rock star Glenn Danzig. The funny thing of this is that I wasn’t aware he’s such a big star until the premiere of the movie in August 2021. There were tons of people from different US states. I enjoyed the days of the shooting, and I was happy to work with excellent producers such as James Cullen, Jarret Furst.
I’ been worked in different short films like Paradise directed by Richard Lelonde, Tribes by Nino Aldi, Across the border by Alberto Carapia, and “It’s not a big deal” written and directed by Joce Lombera. In addition, I recently got called to play a role in Spanish, Memorias del ayer, directed by Jose Feng where I work with Adriana Galindez and another role in English ( The Swap ) directed by Jesus de Miguel .
Now for the strike it’s a hard time to the actors in the US , also I have a newborn , a baby boy , he born in Los Angeles, maybe he won’t have the American dream like me , because he is actually American .
I’m going to be in Spain for months because I have a role in a play , written by Joan Font , EL COLIBRÍ and after that I’m available to get roles here in Los Angeles!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
If I think in qualities to have as an actress , as an artist , for me are : First of all , to have the courage to follow your own dreams ( Everybody dreams but only some of them are brave to persuit ) Training and study with all the best teacher for your goals and to have the knowledge of this art . Of course to have integrity , stay focused in the truth of the industry and don’t forget who you are , your values and embrace your family .
For them who want to start in this industry , always be aware to have the best people in your life , people with integrity and good hearts .

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
I have to be very honest but the best goal for my life , it’s become a mother , I gave birth two months ago , and it was my election because I’m a single mother . I had a lot of dreams about my acting career and most of them happened but in some point I felt depressed and I knew it was for the age and because I wanted to become a mom and my dream is a reality , I have a son , I feel blessed and I honored God to hear me . I realized that I want to be a better human right now , a better actress , a better person to invest in my growth as human being , to be a good example for my son .
