Meet Tanisha Davis

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tanisha Davis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Tanisha, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
I feel that it comes solely from my personal relationship with God. I believe strongly in praying and trusting God for everything. I also believe that what you sow, whether good or bad, you will reap it. So I do my best to make sure that I am sowing good seeds.
Over the years I have experienced the good and the ugly side of dealing with people. The bad experiences simply showed me what I never wanted to be. So even when I have encountered people who have not been so kind towards me no matter what I may have done for them, I have learned to not let it change who I am nor block my blessings.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the Founder and Publisher of FEMI Magazine. It is a lifestyle magazine that is currently home to Mobile, Alabama. We focus on stories that are curated towards black culture. I’m extremely passionate about what I do because it’s something I love and have loved to do for years which is to tell the stories of others.
We launched in 2020 and released our first print publication in 2021. I would love to have more people join in supporting by sharing their stories with us.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Great Question! Three qualities I feel that anyone should have while in pursuit of accomplishing goals is to have passion, creativity, and willingness to work.

If you are passionate about something, nothing will stop you or make you procrastinate.

Creativity comes in by playing a huge part in business and whatever you seek to pursue. You have to know how to dive deep within yourself and bring out the art if I could say metaphorically speaking. Your brand should tell a story about who you are and what you represent.

If you have a willingness to work then you just don’t give up. Some can start things but then they stop because there is no will to keep going. They let anything stop them, whether it’s money, people’s opinions of them etc. Find your will to get moving and you’ll be unstoppable. Find your “Why”.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed which does happen at times because the type of work I do can be mentally draining. I have a small circle of friends and people who are in business that I reach out to. I share how I’m feeling and why I’m feeling overwhelmed and they give me inspiration and the tools I need to change how I’m feeling.
I think it’s extremely important to have people that are on very similar paths as you to talk to when you are overwhelmed.
By that I mean, if you are a business owner, go talk to another friend who is a business owner. People who are on the same path as you tend to understand you better than someone who is not doing what you are doing.
So keep that in mind because it will help eliminate talking to those who have no idea about what you are experiencing.
