Meet Monica Barrett

We were lucky to catch up with Monica Barrett recently and have shared our conversation below.

Monica, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose in the non emergency medical transportation industry by realizing the impact it has on people’s lives. Providing safe and reliable transportation for those in need of medical care allows them to access necessary treatments and appointments. Knowing that my work contributes to improving the quality of life for others has given me a sense of fulfillment and purpose in my career.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I own and operate a Non-Emergency Medical Transportation business located in Los Angeles, CA . We specialize in providing safe and reliable transportation for seniors and those with disabilities. In addition to running my transportation company, I have begun instructing prospective non-emergency medical transportation entrepreneurs. The work I’m doing today seems to have come full circle. Knowing that my actions have an effect on people both near and far makes me feel proud.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
As the owner of a NEMT business, I know that faith, determination, and a willingness to learn were the three skills that helped me advance in my career. I had to first believe in myself and in my capabilities. Without faith I could have given up on my dreams of becoming who I am today.

If you’re thinking about starting your own business, my advice is to set goals for yourself, work at completing the tasks you set for yourself, don’t give yourself too much time to complete tasks, be patient with yourself, and don’t be afraid to fail.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
We have launched our “Start your Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Business in 10 weeks” program. This program was created to teach anyone looking to start a Non-Emergency Medical Transportation business the skills they need to successfully launch their very own business in 10 weeks. Together with my business partner Jasmine Archie, we have worked tirelessly to put a program together that many people can learn from and really find true value in.

We’ve been in the NEMT industry for four years, and we’ve learned from our mistakes..We wish there was “How To” ebooks, online courses, and webinars when we first started. However, the lack of resources only made us resilient.

There is true value in mentorship, we are proud to set the tone for many. If you are looking for resources about the Non-Emergency Medical Transportation industry take a look at the links below.
