Meet Christa Ellis

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christa Ellis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christa below.

Christa, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
As an individual who is often the only one in the room that looks like me, I have learned to embrace my uniqueness and use it as a tool for success. Instead of feeling intimidated or overlooked, I have made it a point to stand out and make my voice heard. I have found that being confident in who I am and what I bring to the table is crucial. It allows me to approach situations with a fresh perspective and contribute in a meaningful way. While it can be challenging at times, I have learned to navigate these situations with grace and a willingness to learn from those around me. Ultimately, being the only one in the room has forced me to become a better communicator, problem-solver, and leader. It has taught me how to be comfortable with being uncomfortable, and has opened up new opportunities that I may not have otherwise had.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Greetings, I’m Christa E. Ellis, proud owner of Luxe Photos KC. In May 2021, I launched my thriving photo booth business, which has been nothing short of remarkable. With a fleet of five photo booths and a dedicated team of ten talented ladies, we flawlessly execute various events. Notably, we’ve had the honor of hosting a couple of unforgettable Patrick Mahomes parties, including his birthday celebration last year. Our remarkable work even caught the attention of Netflix, where you can catch a glimpse of our expertise in action on “The Quarterback.”

I started this venture out of my profound love for capturing moments through photography. The ability to reminisce and relish the joyous times spent in each frame motivated me to share the same sentiment with others. Since then, my clients and I have been fortunate to experience immense happiness through this shared passion.

Introducing Audio Guestbooks, a retro phone that puts a delightful twist on the classic guest book. Luxeline, our brainchild, now boasts an impressive lineup of 8 diverse phone styles to choose from.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
When reflecting on my journey, I believe there were three aspects that made a significant impact on my success: resilience, curiosity, and a growth mindset. Resilience allowed me to bounce back from setbacks and challenges. Curiosity encouraged me to seek out new opportunities and approaches. A growth mindset helped me to view failures as opportunities for learning and self-improvement. For those early in their journey, my advice is to cultivate these qualities. Surround yourself with individuals who inspire you to push forward. Be curious and explore new ideas, communities, and interests. Finally, embrace a mindset focused on growth and personal development. Remember, the journey is not always easy, but developing these qualities will help you to navigate the ups and downs with greater ease.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When overwhelmed, it’s crucial to prioritize self-care. This can be as simple as treating yourself to a massage, facial, or even a solo date. Understanding our limits and not taking on too much at once is key. And do find ourselves stretched thin, setting aside some “me” time to reflect on the positives can work wonders.

Being part of a Facebook group with other photo booth owners has truly been a game-changer. It’s a valuable resource for venting, seeking advice, and connecting with like-minded individuals across the United States. Through this community, we’ve gained invaluable insights and learned various strategies for relaxation.
