Meet Ignacio Orellana

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ignacio Orellana. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Ignacio , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I haven’t found it yet but i am still pushing forward to find it.

The thing is… what do you mean by that… is there only one thing to do? Or one narrow view of life to follow… i believe that there are as many ways to work it out as you possible can imagine so i guess the purpose is to find something to do that makes you feel that internal freedom or tranquility.

In my case i try to keep my head busy and try to learn something else each time i have the chance so i can do more with that new acquired knowledge. More often than not… everything helps me to find new things to do or new things to apply to the ones that i am working on.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a self taught drummer since 16 years old that studied Television and graduated in 1997.

I work as a full time photographer in New York City since 2008. Today, i spend a lot of time shooting food and live music but through the years i have done many other things that are still part of my list of offerings such as Boudoir, Secret Proposals and E-commerce.

I am also working now (almost ready to go live), on a food product but i can’t tell much about it publicly until is ready to go live.

I guess the brand it is just me and my way of doing things which i named My Experience NYC LLC, and gathers most of the skills acquired throughout the years of practicing and experimenting new ways to achieved success on the the jobs at hand.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Always learning something new, which has giving me the sense of security when i walk to a new task or job.

Being patience, even when i have made mistakes a long the way, just to analyze the bad and turn it into good experience for future opportunities.

Keep it to yourself, i mean to don’t say more than is needed. In the end, you are just one more person in the room and more times than others the other people is comparing or competing about what you know… if you know less they don’t appreciate you and if you know more they will taking advantage because you can solve the problem, you said it yourself, you can.

So keep what you know to yourself unless you are getting paid for it.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
Basically, as a photographer nowadays you are doomed. Yes! Everyone with a phone is a photographer and business owners are looking for the cheapest investments and it doesn’t matter how much experience you have because… what they are looking for is what is trending and that is managed by newer generations and new technologies that you are not familiar with.

The solution… offer what you can do 100%. Do it 100% and be responsible. In the end one important factor is how can you maintain yourself and your business throughout time.

Look for other meanings of revenues. Find something to do on the side that can bring income.
