Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Courtenay DeHoff. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Courtenay , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Throughout my television career I often felt like something was missing. I loved working in the industry and sharing stories, but I had largely hid my cowgirl background in order to fit in. The girl in the cowboy hat just didn’t have a place on mainstream television. I dressed the part. I looked the part and I hid a big piece of who I was in order to achieve the dream I thought I wanted.
After nearly a decade of feeling like I wasn’t living up to my full potential I decided to lean into my cowgirl roots. It was only after I decided to embrace my true authenticity (a cowgirl living in the city) that I tapped into my true purpose. I branded myself a Fancy Lady Cowgirl and the rest is history.
Today my ‘Fancy Lady Cowgirl’ lifestyle brand features a community of women from around the world who embrace the cowgirl spirit in unique ways. I found my purpose — empowering women to live legendary by unleashing their inner cowgirl. From keynote speaking to events and merchandise the brand celebrates women who don’t fit into molds.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
There are many qualities that have been impactful on my journey. I call these six principles the Cowgirl Code. The first is courage. It takes courage to be different. It takes courage to stand out in the crowd. The second is originality. When you tap into what makes you unique that is when special things really start happening in your life. You also have to believe you are worthy of the success coming your way. Worthiness has been an important quality in my journey. You can’t talk about cowgirls without talking about grit. You have to get incredibly gritty when you are pursuing a dream. There will be setbacks, but you must find the courage not to give up. The next quality I think has been crucial to my success is integrity. Never forget who you are and stand firm in your beliefs. The final one is resiliency. It takes incredible willpower to keep pushing forward on a journey especially when it’s full of twists and turns. I think when you embody these six principles you will find yourself leading a legendary life!
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
My parents have been crucial to my story. They both demonstrated incredible resilience, grit and tenacity. I wouldn’t be where I am without my parents. They never pushed me, but rather they demonstrated that I could do anything. I’m so thankful for all the sacrifices my parents made for me.
