We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ty’ya Goldsmith a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ty’ya, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Growing up in the world today, there is allot of pressure in deciding in who and what you want to be when you get older. Especially going through my High School experience I have learned confidence is intimidating, but is the number one thing to be successful. I found my purpose in life by being challenged by those who didn’t think I could succeed.
If you don’t believe in yourself than no one will!
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a Business Owner and we organize Popup Events Monthly. I cater whenever an opportunity presents itself. I have been on Fox 2 News Several Times and in Hashtag Boss Magazine and Voyage Michigan Magazine as well. I’ve been hired to cater Brunches, School Events, Non Profit Organization Functions and for the hero’s of our community, the local Fire Department. I’ve been on Mix 92.3 and have been interviewed several times by Bushman and I’ve been on Hot 107.5. I had my commercial ran on several cables channels such as Food Net work and BET, etc. I’ve hosted popup events with Total Entertainment Radio and have hired DJ Steady Rock to play music at my events. I had the chance to meet and talk with Alicia Keys and the fact she told me her story and for people to support me meant allot.
Knowing I started with only a dream and was able to make a reality and make money is exciting.
I love cooking and seeing the expression on my customer’s faces as they enjoy the meals that I have so tireless prepared. It’s a sense of joy for me.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Patience, Learning how to take criticsm in an effective way, being Open to New Ideas and ways of work ethics.
If you have your mind set on a goal, let that be the passion that keeps you going into you reach it.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I feel overwhelmed, I take a step back from the obstacle that is making me feel overwhelmed. Music is a comfort for me. I put myself in a quiet place to bring me back to a calm state and that goes hand in hand with me talking to God through prayer.
My advice for those feeling overwhelmed is to take a deep breath and pause and let yourself feel the emotions that you are feeling rather than shutting them off.
