Meet Miguelina Almarante

We were lucky to catch up with Miguelina Almarante recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Miguelina, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my parents. I grew up seeing my mother balancing motherhood, household and workfield. Learning from my cutural background , from young you are instilled to apply hardworking ethics. My father also influenced my views of growing into a working and educated woman.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am currently finalizing my journey in culinary school. I will be a Plantbased Chef by end of the year! I am balancing motherhood, school and my small plantbased business (plantitas de colorez) . At the moment my business has been exposed at local pop up events and small private events. The most excited part of this journey is meeting new vendors and people that relate or open to the plantbased/ Vegan lifestyle. This journey is special to me as this was a long time idea and finally has been shared with the rest of the world! I see a bright future for my business/brand and we shall be greatfull to share these projects in the works soon in the near future!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities that i have experienced during my journey i must day is confidence, consistency and communication! All of them were impactful to me as they intertwine with my goals accomplished and future! A quick advise to anyone early in their journey is to listen and follow your instinct. If you get that gut feeling or urge to launch yourself in a given project then its for you! It may not all come along in your timing but trust that i was instilled in you for a reason. Continue to take the ride and every step getting you closer to it !

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
My biggest growth and imorovement in the past 12 months i must say it has to be my culinary journey! I started with basic knowledge of the food industry and fast foward i am filled with greater information and skills i did not imagine!
