We recently connected with Brian Gross and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Brian with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
Simplicity and fear are major driving factors to my personal work ethic. Let’s start with simplicity. Every day you show up for work, you have completed 50% of the battle of the day. Once you are in position, you can take on anything. Once you have the mindset that you have made it to your destination, everything else is house money. Showing up is absolutely the biggest challenge of the day, and I personally do not take this for granted. The day begins with that initial response to making yourself alive and ready. Fear is a great driver of work ethic. Staring at the tasks at hand, at the situations that are being tossed around, the people who are in need of my services and their own personal fears, those are drivers for the day. You never want to let anyone down or disappoint anyone. Fear is a fantastic driver in wanting to find success, be successful, and make those around you successful as well.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Learning and, listening to my mentors over the years has been an incredible and very impactful part of my journey. Their experience, their openness, and their willing to allow me to learn from them has been invaluable and beyond appreciative. With that being said, I always try to do the same to help develop people who are eager to learn about this specific trade and want guidance. I’m all about helping others as much as I can.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Yoga is an incredibly important part of my daily regime. I actually do a more intense and high impact yoga that involves cardio and weights that, once my day is complete, I can go to the studio and enjoy. It is such an incredible release from the moments of feeling overwhelmed, from the daily challenges, and so on. Once I am on the mat that next hour I release the day and my focus is to strengthen my mind and my body. I have run 4 marathons, and so I am always taking moments to run for the releases I need, as well. Overall, you need exercise as much as possible to overcome the challenges and obstacles that come with your career.
