Alexis, thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.
I overcame burn out by making sure to incorporate a healthy work life balance. I did this my including hobbies, time with loved ones, and self-care practices in my routine. It is my goal to make sure my work doesn’t interfere with my ability to care for myself. I’ve learned that you can pour from and empty cup but it will be to your detriment.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the owner of a Christian mental health therapy practice where I provide individual counseling sessions for young adults and young professionals. What’s most exciting is my endeavor in creating new content in the form of blog posts and virtual workshops. I will soon be hosting a monthly bible study that focuses on various mental health and wellness topics from a biblical perspective.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My ability to aim high has driven me toward success. I have also relied on my faith in Jesus Christ, trusting that this work is my purpose and calling on the earth. My advice would be to seek therapy or mentorship to help you find your strengths.
