We recently connected with The Brazilian Guys and have shared our conversation below.
The Brazilian Guys, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
We believe every entrepreneur needs to develop resilience in order to stay in course and face challenging times. For that to happen, it is relevant to be confident on your product/business, know how to learn from those adversities, and be open minded to changes as well.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
The Brazilian Guys began with two guys from Brazil with a passion for the culinary arts, compassion and culture. They had two pans and a dream: to meld elements of traditional Brazilian cuisine with American culinary styles, creating a unique Brazilian-American fusion rarely tasted in the States.
Starting modestly, with a grass-roots approach, they began selling their inventive double-pan-inspired dishes at the Hillcrest Farmers Market. In the process they slowly, yet surely built a following of hungry patrons. The word spread, the good energy spread, the delicious stuffed hash browns spread, and today you can find The Brazilian Guys’ at the farmers markets throughout San Diego County.
Our hash browns are 100% gluten free, perfectly seasoned and all cooked inside the signature cast iron skillets. The crispy texture of our potato, sweet potato, cassava and cheese bread crusts complement a variety of sweet and savory fillings. Our homemade Red Roasted Chili Sauce, named Adrenaline, brings a final note in the harmony of flavor, pulling it all together.
A beloved part of San Diego’s vibrant food scene, our stuffed hash browns even made an appearance of Cooking Network’s Cheap Eats.
We are rebranding our business with a lot of big news coming soon!
Keep your eyes open for #TBG FOOD TRUCK – it will be serving good vibes, stuffed hash browns all around San Diego. We plan on following this with our first brick-and mortar location, a place to enjoy our amazing dishes while watching The Brazilian Guys work their cast iron magic.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The Brazilian Guys was founded by two young Brazilian immigrants with an American Dream. Our journey was at times challenging, but we never gave up when facing adversity in a foreign land. For the folks that are starting on the entrepreneur journey, our advice is to believe in your ideas, keep your values strong and learn from your mistakes for growth. The sky is the limit!
We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?
Definitely being well rounded by investing effort on improving areas you are and are not strong in. As entrepreneurs we need to have a flexible mindset in order to overcome the obstacles we encounter along the way. That is why is important to stick to your values, but continue to learn as you go, so you/your business will not get obsolete and will stay afloat with the market. One of the most relevant things we could advice is to not procrastinate and even when it’s difficult, keep on improving the areas you are not good at.
