We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bobak Roshan. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bobak below.
Bobak , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I’ve always been stubborn to the point of fault. Just ask my wife. I think resilience is just being stubborn about the thing you believe in and having the stupidity to stick it out, thick or thin. It’s easier if you believe in the thing that requires the resilience. It’s cliche, but if you believe in what you’re doing, in the goal, in the task, it’s easy to stick it through the rough times.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Demitasse is a local specialty coffee roaster with a cafe in Santa Monica. We’re laser focused on being a zero-waste business and we’re extremely passionate about finding interesting coffees and molding them into crazy drinks.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
For me, having a real curiosity about something I was interested in but didn’t know much about was the number one thing that was most impactful on this journey. But beyond being just curious about the one thing, I think folks need to be curious about all the other things that relate to the main thing in order to be successful. As an example, I was super interested in coffee. But I also needed to be curious and open to so many other things I knew nothing about, from design, to branding to construction to tea! Folks starting out should really get their hands wet and dirty in the field they’re trying to go into before doing it on their own.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
We’re always looking to collaborate with like-minded brands, coffee shops, other roasteries even! We also love pop-ups so anyone who wants a space to do a pop-up, let us know!!
