We were lucky to catch up with JEFFREY ERICKSON recently and have shared our conversation below.
JEFFREY, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
I guess my faith in God. There’s something good always coming, even as dark as life and events can get. I can be both realistic and optimistic simultaneously. I’m naturally a glass-half-full guy but do make room for reality, especially when it surprises me. Sometimes I can let it get to me, the harsh realities of the world, but I at least pray for a likely good outcome to occur.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Well, I’m an actor at my core and my professional goal. I love inhabiting characters in stories and giving them personality that comes from me. I’m a guy who can be so many things from eccentric and quirky to decisive and cautious. In regards to new things, my best friend and I are looking to start a podcast soon where we chat and be ourselves where we can relate to our listeners and answer, questions, interview people and maybe even skits.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Patience 2. Friendships 3. Observation
I would tell anyone to keep going and making connections wherever they can with whatever their field is. If it’s something you love and it brings joy and good to others, don’t give up. One way to help get through to your dream is know what other skills you have like massaging others to political insights and see where those can help you along your journey to support yourself until you get to your goal. You develop multiple different skills.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Being more aware that I am an independent man who can make my own choices. How I look to others also matters a great deal and the example I set will be looked upon. Diverse reactions will naturally ensue. But, I’m learning to find the balance between the ways I and others see myself. It’s like my mom says, “Be original.” Which is actually what the entertainment industry looks for in it’s talent. I will take what others think and say into account but at the end of the day, I’ll do my own thing.
