Meet Nicolle Morazán

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nicolle Morazán a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicolle, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I started working right before I turned 16. I had always looked forward to getting a job and dressing up for work. It had given me a sense of independence, even at a young age. Growing up in a blue-collar family presented examples of hard work and making your way up the ladder. My grandparents and parents taught me that being a hard worker paid off but that receiving a higher education was even more important.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program in nurse practitioner school and will be graduating next Summer. As a nurse practitioner, I will gain more autonomy and be able to provide my patients with a more comprehensive approach. It has been a long-term goal of mine to become a nurse practitioner, even before I graduated from nursing school. As a single mom, I find it challenging at times to balance life, work, and school all at once but knowing that each time I finish a class brings me that much closer to accomplishing my goal.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Personally, I feel that it is important to have the drive to want to do more and become more. Having the drive keeps me motivated as does the sense of accomplishment knowing I am working toward an advanced degree. Being a hard worker and someone who can multitask has allowed me the opportunity to continue to work towards my goal, even on just a few hours of sleep.

If you are on a journey towards accomplishing a goal, stay persistent. It won’t always be easy, it’s not supposed to be. That is what makes it a journey and the reward of knowing you crossed that finish line despite the hardships, makes it that much more worth it.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My biggest area of growth in the last 12 months has been going back to school. It has challenged me in many different ways but has also been an area of inspiration to continue to grow in my career.
