Meet Brauni Orr

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brauni Orr. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brauni below.

Hi Brauni , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I know for a fact my work ethic comes from my mom. I never saw her quit, she always hustled and did what she had to do. But I can also say, I think that go-getter in me, came from my childhood. I grew up in the trenches for real. I know exactly what it feels like to to go without, to see others have the things the I wanted, and I was living in the projects. I feel like that’s what motivates me to work hard. That feeling of, knowing what that’s like and never wanting to go back.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Well my name is Brauni Orr and I am the Owner of Souled Out Plates LLC. I am a self taught chef that specializes in southern made cuisines. My favorite things to cook are fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, yams, collard greens. You know, a good ole Soul Food Meal. And my clients definitely agree. But the most famous item I have, is my Glazed Lamb Chops. Those are always a hit!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
You gotta believe in yourself. Even when no one else does. Some things are your vision, and your vision alone. So somebody else may not agree or understand your thought process, because it’s not for them to. Also you gotta find your thing and stick to it. I think sometimes we tryna make money so bad that we bounce from thing to thing, idea to idea. And they may be great ideas, but they may not be whats for YOU. Find your thing. I love fashion, always have always will. But I’ve always been great at cooking. I had to take a break from something I love, to do something I love and enjoy doing. It’s all in the passion for real. Do something that you enjoy, that way when you making money it’s fun and doesn’t feel like work.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I love collaborations. I love working with others and new up and coming chefs and people looking to brand. My favorites to collab with are event planners like, @thecenapproach & @_k3connections_parties both on Instagram. Because we work so well together, it’s always good vibes, and they both have an amazing selection of items for their events so it’s always a pleasure working with them. And if anyone else would like to collaborate, feel free to inbox me on any of my social media outlets.
