Meet Connie Chi

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Connie Chi. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Connie , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
It comes from losing everything and having to rebuild from nothing. When you have to rebuild it requires you to have tenacity, creativity, and the will to keep pushing through in order to achieve the ultimate goal. Once you lose everything you quickly learn that you have no choice but to succeed and breakthrough.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
As the founder of The Chi Group, an award-winning PR agency working with inspiring talents in television, film, and fashion. Our ethos is built on the idea of working with those who inspire us because in turn they can inspire the world. Aside from public relations, we also work on television show production and fashion runway show production. We’re excited to announce that we will be working with Asian NYFW to produce their next season and Asian Mensweek to launch their inaugural season.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The 3 qualities that were most impactful on my journey was the ability to bounce back, overcome rejection, and most importantly embrace set backs. In the real world, nothing is given to you- you have to either have the courage to create it or figure out how to do it. The best way to develop those skills is to find creative ways to practice in real-time. For example, I had spent a year saying yes to every opportunity and it opened doors for me. But I also spent a year saying no to opportunities that didn’t align with my ultimate goals. The best advice I would give is, just go out there and do it. You can never plan for perfection and expecting to be perfect in the beginning is unrealistic. Get over being perfect and embrace imperfection, there’s beauty in it.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
The most paramount and influential individual that impacts my success is Sergio Delavicci, actor in John Wick 3, The Equalizer, and Power. His consistent encouragement and inspiration gives me the courage to surpass some of the most surmounting challenges both professionally and personally.
