Meet Damon Harris

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Damon Harris. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Damon below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Damon with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic stemmed from my childhood, I would have say as a child, I saw my mom struggling, she did what she could do as a parent, she was a great woman and took care of me and my sister. The work ethic came from seeing her not being able to buy or do certain things for us as she would like for us. I owe alot to my sister for actually working and trying to help raise me as well, I told myself when I get older, I would be a hardworker and i did not like to see my mom struggling. One day I had one of my Uncles to take me to work with him, he was a brick layer, I was around 10 years old at the time, it was so hot out there but he told me, to stack the bricks, etc and things like that, you will get some money in your pocket, I was like I’m not built for this or that, I was like I can’t do this but I was thinking of my mom that was barely making ends meet, it was a little motivation to keep working. However He grabbed me and told me, “Never let that word “Can’t” ever come out your mouth again” so when a man that says he can’t do anything usually succeed in not doing it. How do you think I built a successful brick laying company with all these workers, and the ability to see that no one will give you anything in this world and don’t you never forget that as long as you live. Ever since that day as a young boy, it was embedded in me to work hard, never be lazy, always look to stride, prepare and go for what you want in life. I owe alot to My mom rest her soul, my older sister for pushing me out in the world but taught me the business side of things, my Uncle who changed my life with those words and my first job lol ,but overall its seriously it’s pure motivation  to keep wanting to help as many helping people as I can, I have a mission to carry out that I’ve been called to do for the Lord, it is easy no but i remember where I’ve been, and where I’m going and who needs me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Damon Harris, I am the owner of Your Will Fitness of Memphis, TN. I have a successful fitness and supplement brand company. I love to help individuals, families and communities, to become healthy. I am a real advocate for the American Heart Association, due to losing my mom to heart failure. I want to eventually in the future, put together a youth fitness, traveling fitness team, where both boys and girls can compete in competition, to help our  youth for a better future, to keep them out of trouble and to teach them the value of life. I want to plan on opening two to three gyms in the next 4 to 5 years, or franchise them, where it will be a one stop shop with everything you can think of that helps with your overall health as well as mental health, things many people need, I provided online services and in person services as well.  My brand was built and goal is to teach anyone the “Will Power Mindset” it is always the will of the person who usually succeeds. I also have a beard oil products under my name of Your Will Fitness, but overall in the future I want to be one of the top fitness enthusiast, if not the top fitness enthusiast that is my ultimate goal, and to help anyone to become happy and healthier version of themselves. I want to launch a clothing line next year, aside from my fitness apparel, but something that where it catches your eyes and you see it, it automatically gives you hope and inspiration to keep going and to never give up in life.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I would say, develop a work ethic, develop discipline, develop meditation and prayer. Once I developed mindfulness and practiced gratitude daily then the world opened up for me and opportunities. I will tell you that it will not be easy but don’t quit because when you want to give up just remember why you started in the first place. Keep that fire you have burning deep down inside you. I would just write daily goals and stick to them no matter what arises, the more you stick to the plan the closer your goals will be to coming true to life. Never stop working on your craft, never stop learning, never stop developing, when you do this you’re ahead of 99% of many people. If you take this advice and kill distractions that are not getting you closer to your goals, this will be a winning recipe formula to become successful.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I would like to collaborate with individuals that have a passion for fitness, great mindset, looking to be a beacon in the fitness industry. I would like to get with people that would love to give back to the community, individuals with big hearts things like, health events, feeding the homeless, tackling poverty, helping the less fortunate, also in helping our youth because they are our future. I want to collaborate, with people that want to build the biggest brand that the industry has ever seen, not to only build success for us but to help build others up as well, who is ready to be successful.
