Meet Amy Piper

We recently connected with Amy Piper and have shared our conversation below.

Amy, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I experienced the powerful shifts that result from EFT (emotional freedom techniques, tapping) and this changed everything for me. I was thrilled with the quickness in which old beliefs, patterns, and obstacles could be released and cleared. I emerged out of a stuck place and was able to move forward after just a few sessions.
Having direct experience with this transformational work, I felt called to train and become certified in these techniques.

My career background was in Speech Sciences: I worked as a speech pathologist. I worked with patients that had suffered traumatic brain injuries, so I was familiar not only with the cognitive effects, but physical and emotional effects of trauma. Watching how both the families and the patients processed this trauma, and the disruption in their lives, I knew there had to be a better way to move through these painful events. When I found EFT as a powerful healing modality, I knew this was it.

My direct experience with EFT and the profound shifts that it creates, inspired me to work with others. I founded my business, Tapping For Truth in 2016.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

EFT played a huge role in giving me the courage to move out to LA seven years ago.  I was living in Michigan and craving a change and I didn’t know how to make it happen or what that change was exactly.  Through the process of EFT, I became very clear on my dreams and goals.

In my business, Tapping for Truth, I work with people using the techniques of EFT (emotional freedom techniques) to not only release emotional distress, painful memories, traumatic experiences, but also go beyond to reverse negative core beliefs/negative thought patterns.

EFT is often referred to as ’emotional acupuncture,’ bringing Chinese Acupressure and modern psychology together. It combines gentle tapping on key acupuncture points while focusing your thoughts on physical pain,
unhappy memories, uncomfortable emotions, traumas, fears/phobias, or any other
problem.

EFT works to “smooth out” the energetic disruption between thoughts/ memories and an
emotional reaction. The emotional factors that contribute to the problem are typically
released along with the energy blocks.

The tapping is working directly with the limbic
brain, specifically the amygdala, where our stress response (flight/flight) is controlled.
Tapping has a direct and immediate effect to down-regulate the amygdala. It’s a
powerful tool to clear recent traumas or events/memories that happened all the way
back in our childhood/early years.

As we identify certain patterns in our lives or belief systems that no longer serve us, we
can tap to clear these patterns. This allows us to live from a more neutral and joyful
place.

I also train others in EFT and absolutely love teaching this powerful healing modality. I have another training coming up in December!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I believe three qualities are experience, alignment, and passion.  I believe having direct experience with whatever you are promoting, teaching, sharing, or providing is key.  EFT changed my life and gave me the confidence to break patterns and really live in alignment with my true desires. I then set out to share this with as many people as I can.  Having a passion for something and then directing that passion, is where one can find true prosperity and abundance.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Yes! Of course I get overwhelmed at times. Life is full and time moves so quickly! Overwhelm is a natural reaction to all the events, commotion and chaos that goes on in our world today. I use EFT regularly to tap through any feelings (anger, frustration, overwhelm) and I also have a consistent yoga practice that keeps me grounded. Getting out in nature everyday is also one of my top priorities– even if it’s just a quick walk around the neighborhood. Fresh air and nature, with our feet on the ground, is a way to reconnect to our body and drop in to our heart.
