We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christian “Kindafye” Robinson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christian “Kindafye” below.
Hi Christian “Kindafye”, so excited to have you with us today and we are really interested in hearing your thoughts about how folks can develop their empathy? In our experience, most folks want to be empathic towards others, but in a world where we are often only surrounded by people who are very similar to us, it can sometimes be a challenge to develop empathy for others who might not be as similar to us. Any thoughts or advice?
Having endured a period of being bullied in my past, I can confidently say that it has played a significant role in cultivating my strong sense of empathy. The pain and isolation I experienced during that time allowed me to truly understand the struggles and emotional turmoil that others may be going through. It’s compelled me to become more expressive in my thoughts, feelings, and personality as I realized the importance of being understood, validated, and verbal. I consider myself fortunate , as my bullying has enabled me to be be a more confident & positive peer/figure to those around me. Although rough, I am grateful for the lessons my past has bestowed upon me. Having a support system around me has also greatly helped.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I dibble and dabble in just about everything, Drumming, Modeling, Acting, and more the list truly goes on. I am 20 years old located in Atlanta GA and have been blessed with the bravery to start a business, two. The first is called FYE Apparel, it is a brand made from my experiences of bullying that encouraged others to “Find Your Element” meaning to discover and be the person you want to be. The second and most successful one I’ve created alongside my co-CEO brother Dekori Robinson is the Defiant Ones Teen Magazine. It’s a magazine that focuses on Defying the odds. We started this as teenagers looking to make an impact by sharing the stories of other young influencers and have been blessed to create 9 issues of the digital & paperback magazine thus far. We also have an award-winning podcast that is available on all listening platforms and spans the magazine as well. Shortly we plan to open up this Teen Magazine to the community allowing for local schools and such to give their kids the opportunity to write and also participate in media for a published brand. We will kick off the new additional adult magazine (meaning not just geared for young people) The Defiant Ones Magazine at the start of 2024.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
3 impactful things that have allowed me to get this far are. Using my past situations & circumstances to fuel my desire to make a positive change in the world.
Gathering a good support system around me to help guide and keep me focused on my goals.
Being genuine in my ideas. I could start a business or do anything in life just for the money or fame that it may bring, but it truly meaning something to me helps everything that i do resonate with others.
As a person begging your journey my best piece of advice is simply to allow the successes & failures that you will face come naturally. Trial and error are apart of the process, but so long as you keep going and stay genuine to your goal or dream you will succeed.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
That is an interesting question, a great one! There is no particual client I look to work with aside from them being goal oriented and actively working on themselves. Everyone is unique and different especially in our stories & experiences. I aim to use the lessons learned in other people’s lives to inspire others. Numbers on social media or financially do not equare to the impact a person can have on another persons life. Truly everyone deserves to have thier story shared, because in a way all of us are Defiant.
