Meet BeNeca Ward

We were lucky to catch up with BeNeca Ward recently and have shared our conversation below.

BeNeca, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I didn’t find my purpose. My purpose found me. What I did rather, was acknowledge the clues that were left along my journey that began to paint the picture of who I was meant to be.

I decided not to ignore them, but rather follow them, in connection with GOD’s discernment as my map. I believe that everyone is born with purpose and that the desires of our hearts, or the things that we have love for, are simply reflections of light given, to lead us to our purpose for being here.

My journey started with me making a conscious effort to boldly pay attention to my desires (Psalm 37:4) so that I could align them with plans, strategies, and steps forward. I began asking myself, “Why do I love this and how am I supposed to use my love and my passion to do greater works that will positively affect others?”

For instance: When I started my career in entertainment as a teenager, I knew that I loved it but had no idea that it would position me to become an executive who would have the influence to start an internship program or that the internship program would ultimately lead me to advising and coaching clients around the world. I followed each clue to the next opportunity. I didn’t know when I wrote my first book on values that it would lead me to the White House and that opportunity would take me on a track to start a Brand and Leadership Development firm in Los Angeles. After that, however, I took the time to consider my purpose at a deeper level and examine the many facets of what I was seeing.  I grew to understand that my purpose is to help other people multiply their gifts through their leadership be it through books, programs, talks, television shows etcetera and do even greater works with their visions. I started making my life’s commitments around it.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My story on how and where GOD decided to plant, grow, and teach me is one that I stay fascinated by. The people, places, and opportunities that HE sends me to serve are still so exciting! Being prepared for business as a teen and working in the field of entertainment for twenty years was incredible. To have then been given the opportunity to build my own firm where we focus on helping others brand themselves and their businesses while developing in their leadership, is simply awesome. Writing books and speaking to groups across the board has been a phenomenal experience. The lessons that I’ve learned personally through the process on faith, endurance and people have been more valuable than I could’ve imagined. As for today, the following are a few of the things that I am focused on professionally:

1. Intern to VP®: The expansion of our Intern to VP® Professional Coaching Program for Young Adults 35 and under as well as the new book, From Intern to VP® which provides a personalized coaching experience for each reader to grow, learn, and develop in real time with the support of a coach. Partnering this book with corporations’ human resources departments, universities for freshman orientations, licensing for classes and textbook purposes and partnering it with their Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs is a great venture.
2. Moments of Focus® Purpose Development Program: The expansion of our Moments of Focus® Purpose Development Program in partnership with God Benefits® and based on the bible study practical guide and podcast is developing greatly as we work to bring new cohorts on board.
3. Camp Exposure (The Academy & Women’s Division Expansion): We are expanding the work that we’re doing through our athlete development organization Camp Exposure. The new Academy provides an opportunity for our athletes to be guided on a deeper dive toward developing their identity, purpose, and plans for life beyond the courts and fields they play on. We’re also excited about launching our women’s division this year.
4. Television Production: I’m also excited about what we have in development on the television and film side that will be announced soon.

There are just so many opportunities to serve!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Observation, strategic planning, and discernment have been a few skills that have helped me along my journey. Being able to observe and assess what is happening around me has been a great asset when consulting with clients and creating programs and projects for the market. Utilizing strategic planning skills after a thorough assessment helps me to build, developed timelines and understand whether or not what I’m about to embark on will be worth it. Discernment is by far the most important skill to have because even when you don’t know something for a fact, if you have a discerning quality about yourself, it will lead you to make the right judgement call at times when you’d otherwise not know what to do. The best way to develop these skills and qualities is to become extremely aware of their importance in every case scenario and practice utilizing them as much as possible.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Currently I am looking to partner with:

1. CORPORATE LEADERS who are interested in developing young professional leaders within their organization by providing them with a personalized coaching experience that fits within their resources and culture.
2. UNIVERSITIES AND COMMUNITY COLLEGE LEADERS who are interested in helping their students develop their personal and professional brands before they graduate and even before they step into their classrooms.
3. SPORTS/PLAYER ENGAGEMENT LEADERS who are looking to support their player’s personal and professional brand advancement as well as become a greater professional partner with their team.
4. CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY LEADERS who are interested in partnering with the Moments of Focus Purpose Development Program
